Is a stock super victor to big for a set of stock dart platnums 200cc?
What i am asking is will this intake kill my bottom end?
383ci
6" rod
13.5-1
43lb crank
cam 249/252 @ 50 286/294
lift .534/.542 106lobe in at 102 with 1.6 on intake and 1.5 on exhaust
we are curently runing it with this intake and dont feel i have the bottom end it should have in a imca modified.

we were told that the super victor was best left for the big cube small blocks. we have a victor jr on our 11-1 383 and it really seamed to have helped with our overall power and we have never run out at the end of a straight. last years motor, another 11-1 383 (same configuration other than the intake) had a torker2 on it and it seemed to come on a little sooner in the low rpms but would run out before the end of the straight we alleviated this by putting a 2" spacer on top of it but we still like the victor jr better.

We ran a 360" SBC with 215 Dart heads and it pulled better numbers on the dyno from 5000-8000 rpm with the Super Victor vs. the Victor Jr. This was a 14:1 360 with a 00308 .600 lift solid Crower cam, with a gauge legal 4412 Willy's on top...
-
We ran the 2925 on 355 flat top 450 lift cam motors up to 431ci high comp motors and it did well on ALL of them. Never had a single issue.

Bill Hendren posted on here many times the super victor was the best intake period.
-
I was trying to find some of the dyno info but have not yet. The thing that REALLY caught us off guard was that the Super Victor was better from about 2-2500RPM than some of the dual plane intakes we tried.

We run Super Victor on the 4bbl, Victor Jr on the 2bbl

How could i get more bottom end with what i have? Or is a cam change needed?
-
a cam will give you a much more noticeable change than an intake swap. do you run a 4412? or are you on a different rule?

id try swaping out a cam. what kinda rpm are you turning?

We run a 4/10 high banked track last year before the imca 7800 chip rule we ran a 567 gear and turned around 8200-8400 this year with this motor we have are up to a 567 and only turning around 7400-7600 im getting killed out of the turns and pull back up by half way down the straight
we had a 383 13-1 6 inch rod with a set of ported platnums 200cc and a port matched holley strip dominator with
252/260 290/298 .543/.563 106 lc in at 102 cam in this motor and ran a 529-543 gear and bounced the chip in heats then couple times in feature
with the stock dart 200s in the motor now i just didnt no if the super victor was to big.
-
id probably up your gearing a little first if you can do that at lesser expense than a cam swap. that is an easier way for us to find more speed off the corners than motor work. but we run a quickchange...so its alot easier to swap ratios.
-
i was curious so i just called a guy that runs a 4bbl alky motor that is imca and he said that he found his best results with a Super victor 'E'. he thinks the number is 2978. he said it is works best because its designed to work with unported heads and alky. he doesnt have anything other than his butt-dyno to back it. but he is a heck of a racer who has been doing this for a long time.

If a cam change is need does anyone have any sugestions? Flat tapet cam only
-
intake a gear change are both way easier than changing the cam i would try both of those first. maybe the power band is different than the last motor?
-
power
i would start by advancing cam 2 degrees

You've got a 2 barrel cam in that thing. Get something with some duration and lift and you'll notice a big difference. A cheap, good running cam is the JR 109. I've won a lot of races on that camshaft in a 383. Your heads are only going to hurt you at top end. I run the Super Victor on all of my motors.
-
sounds like a howards cam we ran for years in a prostock and only turned 7000 and won alot of races.now in a modified same engine only track one heads on alky and still only turn it 7400.I think maybe you are turning it to hard on exit and spinning.just my opinion. we run 5.37 gears on a 3/10th track

We went to practice last night with the victor jr on it helped with throtle response but we lost straight speed. it seems when we come off the corner im only gaining about 2000 rpm. Do you all think the cam is done? if so i would need to go down in gear or retard the cam? im not spinnig the tires wish i could lol.
