engine ?
got alot of parts laying around going try and build something here. ive got a set of pistons for a 383 with 5.7 rod there flat top two valve reliefs. 1.425 comp height. have a good set 5.85 rods and a good 3.48 stroke steel crank for a 350. if you add this combo up it comes out to 9.015 deck height. have a block that has not been decked. u can still see the orginals numbers stamped in it. will this work or will the piston be too far out of the hole ?
-
3.48÷2=1.74+5.85+1.425=9.015 should work
-
thank you now question is will piston speed all that good stuff be good ? would it make a decent piece ?
-
There are also thicker head gaskets to help with piston to head clearance if it would be needed. As far as rod to stroke ratio and piston speed all depends how hard you want to run it
-
It won't make a killer engine.Rods are too short for that stroke.Pistons will be heavy with that compression height but it will run.Should be a good engine for pulling a farm wagon.
-
would this be better ? 3.50 stroke 6.125 rod 1.125 comp height ? if my math is right that would be 9.00. going be a 2bbl motor in a pure stock car.

That would make a lot better 2 barrel engine.
