Adams Rolls To Front-Wheel-Drive Special Race Win At Mountain View Raceway

SPRING CITY, TN – The Adams Brothers of Crossville, TN showed up and showed out in the Front-Wheel-Drive Special Race Saturday night at Mountain View Raceway. Nathan Adams held off brother Nick Adams to take the top prize of $500 in the Adams Racing Special. Nick Adams took the second spot in the Grave Digger Chevrolet HHR.

Nathan Adams took the lead on lap four after early race leader, polesitter Jacob Sharp of Crossville, TN lost a tire on the Sharp Race Cars Chevy in turn one. The Adams Boys had company from Jimmy Wyatt of Kodak, TN in the Wyatt’s Cabin Restoration Dodge Neon. They made for a tight three-car battle for the lead in a race cut short to 18 laps of scheduled 25 due to the time limit.

Michael Jones of Crossville, TN finished fourth in the Jones Racing Special and Jason Crowder of Loudon, TN took the fifth spot in the Crowder Racing Special. Nate Ingham of Athens, TN was sixth spot in the Ingham Racing Honda, and Josh Scealf of Decatur, TN drove the J&S Towing Honda to a seventh-place finish.

Tyler Walton of Crossville, TN finished eighth driving the Walton Racing Special and Matthew Sullivan of Cookeville, TN was ninth in the Sullivan Racing Chevrolet. Savannah Merriman of Maryville, TN rounded out the top ten in the Merriman Racing Special. In preliminary action, Sharp out timed the 25-car field in qualifying with a lap around the ¼-mile high-banked clay oval in 14.234 seconds.

A total of 101 race cars in eight different Division rolled through the Pit Gate on Saturday night at Mountain View Raceway. It was a smoothly run entertaining show that had the final checkered flag of the evening dropped at 11:18 p.m.

Austin Neely of New Tazewell, TN won the 20-lap Late Model Feature Race in the Neely Racing Special after a tight duel with John Ownbey of Cleveland, TN in the Orr Brothers Construction Kryptonite. Josh Collins of Knoxville, TN was third in the Knoxville Diesel Rocket, with fourth going to Joey Standridge of Tellico Plains, TN driving the Standridge Racing Special, and Michael Smith of Crossville, TN rounding out the top five in the Spin City Studio Longhorn.

Jeremy Hicks of Cleveland, TN took the win the 15-lap Sportsman Feature Race in the Hicks Motorsports Warrior followed by Chad Miller of Ooltewah, TN in the Agee Excavating GRT, Aaron Watson of Dayton, TN in the Watson Construction Capital, Jeffrey Jackson of Spring City, TN in the Jackson Racing Special, and David Doss of Cleveland, TN in the Doss Racing Rocket in second through fifth respectively.

Bradley Goodman of Spring City, TN won the Beginner Sportsman 15-lap Feature Race in the Goody’s Power Sweeping Rocket, and announced that he would be moving up to the Sportsman Division beginning next week. Tyler Jolley of Spring City, TN took the second spot in the Jolley Racing Special and Kelby Norwood of Etowah, TN was third in the Long Chevrolet GRT.

Kirk Turner of Crossville, TN drove the C&S Logging Dirt Works to victory in the 15-lap Open-Wheel Modified Feature Race followed by Travis Sietsema of Crossville, TN in second driving the Tee’s Home Improvement LG2 and Billy Palmer of Knoxville, TN in third driving the Palmer Racing Special.

Johnny Hughes of Graysville, TN won the 15-lap B-Hobby Feature Race in the Hughes Farms Chevrolet, and the 15-lap Thunder Feature Race was won by Chris Williams of Soddy Daisy, TN in the Ameka Wilkey Chevrolet Monte Carlo. David Dunlap of Clinton, TN drove the C&D Tires Special to victory in the 15-lap Dwarf Feature Race.

Next Saturday night will be Four-Cylinder Mania at Mountain View Raceway, as the Sharp Mini Late Models and the 4-Cylinder Division with join the Late Model, Sportsman, Beginner Sportsman, B-Hobby, Thunder and Front-Wheel-Drive Divisions in action.

The Pit Gate opens at 3 p.m., and the Grandstand/Tier Parking Gates opens at 4 p.m. Pre-Race Technical Inspection and Registration will be from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and the Drivers Meeting is set for 5:45 p.m., with Racing scheduled for 6 p.m.

Pit Passes are $25 for Adults, $15 for Children 6-12, and Children 5 and under are admitted Free. General Admission and Tier Parking ticket prices are $10 for Adults, $5 for Children 6-12, and Children 5 and under are admitted Free.
