That guy was super lucky. Another 20 seconds and he would have cooked.
Foam 1500 bucks for a Foam ex. and had that fire out in 3 sec. They lost a car because they could not fight a fire.
And Bottle Foam is only 200 bucks 2 would have put the out in 5 sec time.
They were putting water on it in the end thats stupid it just makes it worst, gas is on top of water and justs keeps burning.
Announcer said it flared up... That was one heck of a flare up....
Driver losses car cause they cant fight a fire. Thank god he got out of the car.
This is beyond stupid. They are using water??? WTH??
Obviously at first they were using actual fire extinguishers it looks like because you can see the foam on the tire. But then you can see them trying to unwind a hose from a truck you can't see. Which does appear to be just water coming out but then it looks like they used more fire extinguishers once the flames went down.
It was quite early in the race so the fuel cell is full enough for a feature. Anyone know what size fuel cell they typically use? It ignited fast. He sure is lucky though. Regardless cars can be replaced lives cannot.
How much money should a track spend to have all the correct fire equipment? Feel bad for the car owner but things happen. Thank the good Lord the driver got out.
The fuel was obviously leaking from the tank. First it was a dam good thing the river was out of the car. Car dirt you keep saying foam would have had it out in 5 seconds. I don't disagree. But if the fuel keeps flowing as it obviously did. The flare ups were going to continue.
CarDirt is actually right if they wouldve used foam it would have out a nice think blanket layer of foam on the entire car and wouldve smothered it out in no time at all the only thing that wouldve sucked then was trying to get the foam to run into the track lol that wouldve been a slick slippery mess
John got lucky here to. Love his interview at the end.

Cardirt0 is right. Foam is going to put it out fast. As soon as the flame is out the temp drops fast. You need 3 things to have a fire. One fuel. Two heat and three oxy. Take one away and fire is gone.
Water works on temp, if it's a fogger spray. Foam works on oxygen and heat. One other thing they should have is PKP powder for electrical or magnesium. CO2 takes the heat away but slower doing it. The fuel is heavier than the foam, so any added sinks under foam. Proper method is foam deck and heavy mist fogger with water
He been trapped in car this story be real bad right now. Ask Doug Wolfgang he was burned bad when they had nothing to put out fire. Guy that saved him got burned doing it.
