Umberger "FLATFOOTS" To The Top In Topless Race Two

(Prosperity,West Virginia) The FASTRAK Racing Series battle to lock in the Top 40 for the World Championship was in high gear Friday night at Beckley Motorsports Park. After Mt. Holly,NC #22 Barry Wright of Chris "All In" Ferguson went on to take the checkers in race #1 of the FASTRAK Topless Late Models a special part of the World Championship weekend entitled Friday Night Fights. The fans were excited after the first event and wanted more after a total of 75 entrants was narrowed to (2)24 car field A-Mains for 40 laps and $2,000 to win. Race one was won by Ferguson who was going to take the second Topless feature.

Lee Cooper in the #57 and #33 Chris Meadows set on the front row as the field came to the green flag for the 40 Lap Main event to close the night and set the stage for the "World Championship" Saturday. Ivey and Dalton made up row 2 and began to try and rally a run on Cooper but with Umberger in the #44w closely behind after starting 6th position. Another stellar show took place the first 11 circuits and the racing was more than great it was outstanding and had the best of the best in Pro Late Model racing under the FASTRAK banner. Caution #1 would fly on Lap 11 when the #B4 of Scott Beatty from Allison Park,PA hit the wall in turn 1 which caused him to cut down a left front side of rubber to have the yellow fly. On the restart Umberger who won the FASTRAK City Chevrolet Touring Division back in May was taking the #44w Barry Wright owned by John Broce Motorsports to the front of the field by taking the car to the top of the wall and running it high all 40 circuits.

The 3rd yellow would fly as still #33 Chris Meadows continued his mission at the front when #88 Trent Ivey suffered some kind of a engine failure 5 laps after the halfway mark which forced caution flag to fly again on lap 25 which set up a wild 15 laps shootout they had it all come down to the end and a mere 20 spots remained to decide who was going to be locked in the Top 40 to be in the Qualifying rounds of the 2012 FASTRAK World Championship. Meadows sailed away from Lee Cooper and D2 Nolan Dalton on the restart but it seems like no one could catch "The Mountaineer Man" in the #33 Rocket unless something would happen to him on his own. Well bad luck would strike Meadows exiting turn 2 when leading the race his car just stopped rapidly entering the backstretch as he broke a rod on the right front of the car forcing the car to jus quit and spoiling the Beckley favorite by missing the Qualifying for the World Championship by one position on the final rundown order.

The final nine laps of the race we're single file which gave #57 Cooper the driver from Woodruff,SC who's a 4 time Touring Champion the opportunity to get his first win of the 2012 season and he was on a mission to do just that however on the second lap after the restart he drifting way up high just exactly where Meadows did in turn 2 and hit the wall damaging the right side of the car. Cooper was able to continue but with the damage fell back to second as #44w of Brandon Umberger took it high even hit the wall at times with sparks coming from contact but went on to survive a last caution on lap 37 incident where #1 of Burgettstown,PA cut down a side of Hoosier rubber on the right rear and a hard charging 16 year old named "Flyin" Ryan Montgomery to rally to the front in the closing laps and contend with second spot with #57 Lee Cooper. The driver who won the first ever touring visit of FASTRAK back in May would turn around on a cold October night and win race #2 of the FASTRAK Topless Late Models in Friday Night Fights at Beckley Motorsports Park.

THIS EVENT IS A LANDMARK RECORD WEEKEND WITH 85 FASTRAK Drivers & Late Models on hand for World Championship weekend at Beckley (WV) Motorsports Park.

75 Drivers from 9 States battled it out in the first ever night of the FASTRAK Racing Series competing TOPLESS under the Lights in Twins $2,000 to Win 40 Lappers!! With #22 Chris Ferguson and then #44w Brandon Unberger as the Twin 40's winner and the rest of the Top 20 finishers would automatically transfer into World Championship Qualifying as well as any FASTRAK Top 3 Points Dirt Track Weekly Member at points end will also re-qualify. TOPLESS Late Models for the FASTRAK Racing Series was truly a delight and sight to watch the best of the best in the "Premier Pro Late Model Series in the Country" battle neck and neck and fans could see up-close. From the reactions of many don't surprised if FASTRAK Topless race doesn't happen again in 2013.
