How about a virtual promoter?
I think it is awesome (safety issue) for tracks that can afford to do it.
Not a fan of it, times change though. Virtual flagging will never produce another Dave Farney.
i'm old school so i hate to see the flagman go away. once upon a time they had the authority to make calls during on track action. not so much anymore. now everything comes from the tower and the only job a flagman has is communicating to the crowd what the tower has decided.
have seen a few great flagmen over the years. some not so great.
the best part of the idea is safety. seen several have to scramble looking for shelter from cars and debris with nowhere to hide.
I doubt many drivers are looking at the flagman anyway. I remember when they would walk onto the track to get everyone in line and when they had the b@lls to get out the black flag.
A virtual flagging system that is black flag happy!!!! hahaha
