lost power steering at track during feature unloaded car on monday and now the steering is working fine. rack just came from appleton thinking pump because fluid would be thicker when cold making it easier to produce pressure any other ideas?

What type of fluid?Vented cap?

Could have been air in the lines that worked itself out.
Keep your reservoir filled above where the return hose comes in. Check it while the engine is running. If the return hose hole is exposed, we have seen it kind of aerate the fluid as it sprays it back into the reservoir and those tiny air bubbles get sucked back to the pump and cause problems.
I"m guessing air in the system. Whenever I bleed the air out of my system I put the car on jackstands, fill the system with fluid, and turn the wheel back and forth with engine off. Then I start the car up
and turn the wheel back and forth.
