BRASSTOWN, N.C. – January 19, 2017 – The Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series presented by Sunoco Race Fuels and Tennessee RV is pleased to announce the addition of an event to the 2017 slate of events bringing the total number of events on the schedule to 15. Also, points fund monies have been increased for 2017.

North Georgia Speedway located in Chatsworth, Ga. will hold their first-ever series event on Tuesday Night July 4th paying $10,000-to-win. Series promoter Ray Cook and track promoter Chip Burke reached an agreement last week for the series to visit North Georgia Speedway for a 50-lap event to celebrate America’s birthday.

A big night is planned for what will be the largest event on the 2017 schedule for North Georgia Speedway and largest in several years. “We’re excited for what will hopefully be a large turnout. We hope this event will pave the way for future races at North Georgia Speedway,” stated track promoter Chip Burke in a recent interview. A huge Fireworks display is also expected to light up the evening sky during the event. “We’re also excited for our fans, they’ll get to see some of the bigger names that night and also can bring the family for what will be a memorable event,” Burke went on to say.

More details will be released on this event at North Georgia Speedway as the season progresses.

Series Promoter Ray Cook has also announced that he has upped the ante on the 2017 Championship for the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series. The Champion will now receive $10,053. Second place in the points will receive $5,053, third place receives $2,553, fourth place will receive $2,053 and fifth place getting $1,553. With added races to the 2017 series schedule, Cook has added money to the points fund for the upcoming season. The Bonus Series champion will now receive a record amount. Donald McIntosh of Dawsonville, Ga. is the defending series champion.

The Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series (Summer Tour) last visited North Georgia Speedway on July 23, 2013 when Aaron Ridley of Chatsworth, Ga. captured the $3,500 payday over Billy Ogle Jr., Eric Jacobsen, Chris Madden and William Thomas.

The Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series presented by Sunoco Race Fuels and Tennessee RV will open the 2017 season on Friday and Saturday March 10-11 at Smoky Mountain Speedway during the Fourth Annual Tennessee Tipoff Classic paying $15,000-to-win.

The Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series will open the 2017 campaign on Friday Night March 17th paying $3,000-to-win at Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, N.C. followed by a $4,000-to-win event on Saturday March 18th at the Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, Ga.
