my daughter went to the University of North Dakota. Fighting Sioux. until... NCAA rules. and the threat of withholding $$$. Name must be changed unless tribal approval given (Florida State Seminoles). One Sioux tribe wanted to keep the name. The other did not. they are now known as Fighting Hawks.
