weight vs spring setup

steel motor vs allum motor.
setting up a black front end car by the 2008 rocket manual. it has all these starting points wich are good but what motor are they assuming im using. is there no difference in setup? Also i have seen w my previos car (not a rocket) that rear % was hard to get. my min weight for a steel head motor was 2300. but to get my percentages right was always 75-100 lbs over my min weight. so car ended up w around 2375-2400 lbs.
so if i ran an aluminum motor by the book setup my front springs will be 550 l/s 350 r/s rear springs 200 l/s 225 r/s with a total weight of 2300 w proper %
and w the steel motor all the same springs even tho im a hundred pounds heavier???
this manual suggests that running a 275 spring in slick is ok? seems awful soft for a steel motor. has anybody ran that setup w a steel motor? thanks

YES....Stacked assuming your running CLR...I would say most of us are 2400 to 2450ish at start

yea planning on clr. is everybody on the stacked spring now? i looked at it a year ago but thought it might fade out like the progressive spring. was going to start w a conventional setup. i posted my scale weights in another post if you wanna take a look at that. any help to be faster is greatly appreciated last thing i wanna do is be all slow in the way or spend money on the wrong part.

Just start out with the standard deal on the right front, around a 400 spring with a cast engine. Your wheel weights look Ok to me. What you got for stagger, we picked up a lot this year by reducing stagger, we always would run around 4.5" inches on rear but found that instead of moving bars for the feature we would put on a bigger LR and cut stagger to around 3.5 to 4". This also would put LR bite up around 200lbs from the 80 to 90lbs we leave the shop with. I used to run my rear springs the same as you have listed, but they where killing me going into the corners, so we swapped the rears to 200LR and 250RR to really stick on entry on the throttle. alot of guys at fayetteville telling me to go w 175 250 on rear 180 lbs o bite also. sounds like i got plenty to try. o i always had around 4.5-5-5.5 stagger. dep on what tires i had.
