I found a cast mount off of an old courier, but I'd like to build something significantly lighter too.
here are a couple pictures for the small alternators
I have some of the early mustang alt mounts that were on manual steering cars, they are alum and mount on the dist sid of the motor [the three big holes] it is what I used for years can use any ford or aftermarket lw alt mine was just 6 lb 40.00 ea u pay shipping from Indiana
Been thinking about mounting an alternator to the rear end.
A Merkur air condition mount works great, and puts the alternator on the passenger side. Bolts right up to the block.
Not quite sure why you'd want to add any weight to the right front of a mustang.....
not sure where you are from but here in northern california there are not very many merkurs around although i have worked on some. the pictures that car62 showed are about the best i have seen. i run a small single wire alt on my pinto using a modified stock alt mount and wouldn't run without one again. the mount car62 shows looks nice and i will make one like that for my mustang.

Olin, you have to use a small diameter waterpump pulley, the 7" Esslinger wont clear, the one we used at the time was from raceeng, the new setup we are using the super light serpentine setup from cheaphp.com http://www.needhp.com/ford23serpenti...pulleykit.aspx
