Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth Just 11 Days Away; Ticket Discount Announced

Jamaica, VA – In just a matter of 12 short days the 2014 season gets underway for Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway with the running of the $20,000 to win Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth. That means some of the nations top dirt late model drivers will be making the trip to the ½ mile speed plant located in Jamaica, VA.

The event will be sanctioned by the National Dirt Racing League (NDRL) and will feature a 60 lap feature paying the winner a cool $20,000. This will be the first visit to the track by the second year national touring series. A Sunday April 13th rain date has been established if needed.

Fans can expect to see the best in national and regional dirt late model drivers for this highly anticipated event. Defending National Dirt Racing Series Champion Billy Moyer, current point leader Chris Madden, Scott Bloomquist, Steve Francis, Don O’Neal, John Blankenship, Jonathan Davenport, Chris Ferguson, Kent Robinson and the rest of the NDRL regulars will have their hands full as they compete against Booper Bare, Steve Shaver, Ricky Elliott, Jason Covert, Jamie Lathroum and a host of other regional hot shoes for the top prize.

Admission price for adults is only $35, seniors (60+) $30; military (active/retired w/ proper I.D.) $25, students 7 – 17 years old $15 and children 6 and under admitted free. Pit passes will be $40.

The Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth will be the third race of a three race NDRL mega weekend following Pennsylvania’s Pittsburg Motor Speedway’s $10,000 to win PENNational event on Thursday April 10th and Winchester Speedway’s $10,000 to win Gunter’s Honey 50 on Friday April 11th. In an effort to help out the race fans Virginia Motor Speedway officials have come up with a discount for those fans that will attend more than one of the Mid-Atlantic events. Any fan that brings a ticket stub from the PPMS and/or Winchester events can receive a discount off the general admission ticket price for the Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth. Go to both PPMS and Winchester and get a $10 discount, attend only one of the two races and get a $5 discount. Discount is for grandstand admission only and you must present redeeming ticket(s) at time of purchase.

16” coolers are welcomed but no glass is allowed. There is plenty of free lit parking and camping (no hookups) is allowed at no charge on a first come first served basis.

Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway is a ½ mile dirt oval track is located on U.S. Route 17, eight miles north of Saluda, VA and 25 miles south of Tappahannock, VA in Jamaica, VA. The speedway is just a short drive from Richmond, Fredericksburg, Southern Maryland and the Hampton Roads area.
