Opener at Quincy pushed back a week, Sun Apr 9 now opener, IMCA Stock Cars on card
After consulting with most of our team over the past day, looking at the forecast, people's schedules, the things left to do to get ready AFTER it's dry enough to do anything... whenever that will be... We are going to cancel opening night at Quincy Raceways that was scheduled for this Sunday April 2nd and instead of tearing the whole place apart to get ready for a show on Sunday that currently has an 80% chance of rain, we will regroup and get the things done that we had hoped to accomplish this week... let the track dry out and get it hard again, let the pits dry out instead of having to push slop out of the way Sunday to have a place to pit etc. Heck, our delivery trucks are having a hard time even getting to us and there's no way we are driving any equipment anywhere near the racetrack until Saturday night/Sun morning at the earliest. We still don't have good drying weather in the forecast but our hope is that things can start to dry Friday even with the lower temps and more on Saturday so that we can handle what is hopefully a lighter rain on Sunday, then get a couple of practices in next week.... hopefully the first one being Monday. I'm sure we'll hear about how we didn't try hard enough etc., but it's not going to be good for anyone, including the race track to start the season off with a huge mess for both the racers and fans, and get the season started on the wrong foot.... and that's even if the forecast for Sunday is totally wrong. We will add Crate Late Models to our April 9th show. We will also find a different night for a $1,000 to win Modified show. Finally, we are going to look at some of the weeks we had scheduled to be off mid-summer to add a night back in.
