Anyone have pics of the spoiler angle issues at Speedweeks?
No pic but it was almost 90 degrees to the decking on the left side and slowly tapered down to about 30 degrees on the right.
Did anyone catch the qualifing laps at golden isles without the right side at all?
I had never thought about them not being the same angle all the way across, but I just looked at the Lucas Oil rulebook, and it doesn't say anything about spoiler angle. Only that it has to be 8", mounted to the deck, and straight across where it mounts, and limits the supports.
Talon75....do you mean the right side endplate was missing? I don't think the rulebook addressed that either.
I may have overlooked it though.
Why do we need spoiler angle rules? With so many other rules not being enforced adding a new rule to be ignored seems pointless in the grand scheme. The end plate use to have a rule, but if its no longer there then everyone can equally take advantage. The horse escaped the barn many years ago and I don't see anyone committed to putting him back in, too many enjoy watching him run loose that don't bare the cost.
They done the same thing with 6 car at the world in 2015. I think they knew all eyes were on them and decided to mess with every one a little bit back then. I remember they took it out once, and the other time they had it in but it had a big hole cut in it, which pretty much made the 1/4 wing non existent. They only done it during qualifying then too.
I looked for pics, I can't find any.
I always thought the more air on the spoiler=more downforce=more power to the ground=faster speeds. Shows what I know, good thing I’m just a fan and don’t work on these things.
angle'd up is good on a track you need more handling and downforce, hammerdown wide open throttle, angle is probably killing speed
Heres the most recent spoiler WoO didn’t like 😂
Hey we found another piece of metal on the car that we can twist up and make ugly...
