Weekly Racing Series Season Extended Two Weeks Due To Excessive Rainouts

ADAIRSVILLE, GA – Durrence Layne Racing officials have announced they are extending the Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series two weeks due to an excessive number of rainouts during the 27-week season that began the last weekend of March and was scheduled to end on September 29. Now, the season will run through October 13.

The deadline for tracks to run Double Features to make up any rainouts during the first 25 weeks of the 2019 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series season will be extended one week to September 22, or by the end of Week 26.

“This has been a record year for rainouts throughout all of the Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series tracks, and we felt this was only fair to try and give both our tracks and our racers an opportunity to race for a fair amount of points,” Durrence Layne Racing Director Adam Stewart said. “We did consult with our track operators, and they were in agreement to extend the season.”

The 2019 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series season has seen 26 different tracks in nine different states running Durrence Layne Racing sanctioned events in one of four different racing Divisions. Through Week 21 of the 2019 season, a total of 1,002 drivers have competed in Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series events.

The 2019 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Divisions are the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division, the Durrence Layne Performance Street Stock Division, the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division, and the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division.

Drivers racing in Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series events compete for both a Track point fund and a National point fund. Drivers compete against drivers racing at Durrence Layne Racing sanctioned tracks across the country using a National points system that will now conclude on October 15.

A driver’s best 14 weekly point totals count as their season total. Once a driver reaches 14 weeks of competition, they start trying to net points by replacing the lowest weekly total among their best 14 weekly totals with a higher one. A driver can only count their best point finish each week as their total for that week.

The top ten drivers in National point standings of each Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Division will earn a seat at the Durrence Layne Racing Annual Awards Banquet to receive a point fund check and a trophy.
