I'm waiting on confirmation to see if " The Doctor " (Danny Johnson) shows up in his big block, and if so, I'll make the trip down ! Really dig watching the legend race in Charlotte; my late brother whom I lost in February was a sponsor of his racing endeavors, and it would be great to see the Doctor again.
Quick story on the Doctor
One night twenty some years ago, they had a SKOAL big race in Canandaigua and they had the county fair there next to the track that same week and Danny had qualified in his heat and was to start 12th in the main event but after setting his car up for the feature, his crew began to get frantic because Dan was nowhere to be found. Turns out they found him just before feature time up on the top of the ferris wheel enjoying the ride, thats how cool he was, and as it turned out, he had to start in the back of the 100 lapper and eventually won the race with two laps to go.
It just goes to prove that every man still has a little kid left in him at times. No BS story, 'cause I was there to witness it
MM my guess is he will be there. Looks like AJ picked up a good ride this yr as he usally runs so so. Im not so sure alan will treck all the way down here though. Danny has had alot of success here at charlotte.
This is my favorate race of the yr as i grew up watching the bb mods at UTICA ROME which was my home track and its the only time i get to see them run.
Hope you have a good time if you voyage down. Weather is looking good also. Low to mid 70's and upper 50's at night w may b a lil shower sat morn. The last time i checked it.
Sorry to hear of your brothers passing
