it's sad to see. I was at Smoky Mountain Saturday night. He wasn't even in the ballpark. Was slow. Nearly a second off the pole speed, ran 6th in his heat and just floundered around all night.
And this isn't a track he's unfamiliar with. I've seen him put a whipping on them at Smoky Mountain before. And not many years ago. In 2016, at the Lucas oil race, it was Dale M, Landers and Scott 123, all in his chassis. Now, he's rarely competitive.
As big a fan of his as I am, I think it's time to look at what life after driving looks like. If he wants to keep being involved in racing, he needs to put a driver in that car, not a second car, and try to win as a car owner.
