Will they make power on a SBC 406
Probably not where you can use it. That's a pretty big head for a 406.
What do i need to use it on ? A 434 ?
Something 427 or bigger and well built. If you are locked into the 406 I'd look for heads in the 215 cc range.

I have a set of Brodix that cc'd 241 on a 362ci that made 649hp & 529# torque.They may be too big for a 406ci but they run fine on a 362ci.
What RPM are you turning?
Looking to turn 7500 to 8000.
This is a new build and have never have used these heads b4. So that's why i'm looking for info
I stand by my original answer that they're too big. You've been on here for over two years asking for thoughts on heads that 99% of the people who have answered you keep saying too big. Suggest you listen to the majority since you obviously aren't an experienced builder as most of the ones who answer you are. Good luck.
Any size head can be made to work if you know what you are doing.Nascar makes heads that are over 300cc work on a 358ci.Just takes all the right parts to go with the heads.
CC's is a bad way to measure or compare heads unless the valve angle and port length are basically the same. What you are looking for is pinch area, that tells you more about the head volume then CC's will.
Take a typical 23 degree head and 230 is reasonable mid to larger sized head, but take a SB2.2 head and a smaller ones is 280 CC's so it appears the SB2 head is large but it's because the ports are so long they have more CC's but may be a smaller cross section/pinch area.
Most of you new heads are listed with pinch area instead of CC?s, that's why. Not an expert here but if the 23 degree is a raised port the port may be longer then a typical 23 degree head and thus more CC's for the same width/pinch as a non/slight raised 230CC head

Well 4T Went back 4 years asking about these heads. Guess what.... YOUR WRONG. Ask once about the 383, 388 1 year ago but never ask about the 406. Good Luck to u.

i will take a shot , yes they will , thing is you never stated where you want to make power , just a general question so my answer is general as well , maybe you can get perfcon to post that cam shaft specs he had in that 362 , i would like to see them as well......

Whats max piston speed for a 406, 8800 or better?
Maybe the OP can post that, what fuel and or octane? and what kind of parts etc, quality.
Just like a lot of the post on here, its really dependent on what the engine is. A top tier 406 on alky, or a low budget build on 110 gas. Its gonna vary greatly.
An example, we had an old SLM Engine, 430, 4 inch stroke, that was built wrong, and we had to twist to 9200 to get it to "run" it had good USA parts in it, but that is not the best idea to do. We backed it off for years but always struggled with it because of that. So doing it right the 1st time pays dividends.

that much head peaking at 5600 on a 362 is impressive , what was lift at the valve ?

This same topend (brodix track 1's-241cc) made 714hp on a 409ci (4.165 X 3.75) engine before I pulled it off and put it on the 362ci.
Funny how I wanted more lift from the cam I was having ground but my cam guy insisted I was outta whack in the head. I was looking for mid .600’s and he insisted all I needed was about .560.
Well after a back and forth he ground a .580-ish one for me. And I bought a house grind Howards ground with .599/.616 lobes on a 108. Hope to get both on a dyno to see the difference.
These are FT grinds btw. All of my buddies rollers are in that mid 600’s range in their 362 spec motors. Mine is a 388 with 294 cfm flow on the intake side. Iron heads.
I think he is trying to focus on the bell curve, and the width of that lift profile, instead of how high the lift peak is.
Did he say to increase the rocker ratio ?
294 cfm isnt bad with a iron head, how big is the port? 220 or bigger?
Any cam ground on 108* lobe seperation won't work very good ina 350-362 ci. In a 415-430 they work good.The raised runner iron heads will flow 342cfm @ .700 with a 260cc port.
Just finished another 362ci with Brodix Track 1 heads.Heads were 245cc intake runners.Peak numbers were 647hp @ 7200 and 514# torque @ 5500.
what were the numbers at 3500 ?
I don't start dyno pulls until 4500.Motor will never see 3500 unless it under caution.

By the way for anybody that might be interested,I have a set of the Brodix T1 11 STS 245 that are used for sale bare.No intake or valves.Price is not set in stone but probably $1,000 plus shipping.
For your information: the T1 means they are Track 1 castings with 11x porting by a company named STS that Brodix uses.The ports are 245cc & chambers are 50cc.Not cleaned up yet so don't ask for me to ship them tomorrow.Brodix says they flow 242cfm @ .700 on intake & 233cfm @ .700 on exhaust.
