Shannon Wins Sam Williams Memorial Race At Mountain View Raceway

SPRING CITY, TN – Jeremy Shannon of Wartburg, TN drove the Shannon Racing Special to a $2,000 victory on Saturday night in the 2nd Annual Sam Williams Memorial 30 at Mountain View Raceway. Shannon started on the pole after setting Fast Time in Qualifications, and led every lap for the win.

Shannon also picked up the Richmond Gear Winners Award from Contingency Connection. The 2021 Sam Williams Memorial Race winner Josh Walker of Ringgold, GA finished second in the Nichols Fiberglass Mastersbilt, and third went to Jesse Lowe of Crossville, TN driving the Hogan Racing Longhorn.

Sylvan Schuette of Blairsville, GA was fourth in the Fast Fab Set Up and Design Train, and Seth Jolley of Spring City, TN rounded out the top five in the Jolley Racing Special. Christian James of Soddy Daisy, TN drove the Scenic Air Solutions to a tenth-place finish to earn the Contingency Connection Richmond Gear Hard Charger of the Race Award.

There were 89 entries from three different states in just five Divisions in the Mountain View Raceway Pit Area on Saturday night. There were Double Features in three Divisions to make up rained our Feature Races from June 25.

The defending and three-time Mountain View Raceway Late Model Champion Barry Goodman of Spring City, TN put his #89 Charlie’s Used Auto Parts CVR Marion Tipton Throwback Car in Victory Lane after winning the 25-lap Late Model Feature Race. Colton Profitt of Crossville, TN was second in the Wyatt Builders Capital and Jesse Lowe of Crossville, TN finished third in the C&C Auto Mastersbilt.

Jimmy Dalton of Powell, TN took both the scheduled Open-Wheel Modified Main Event and the Make-Up Feature in the Willett Powder Coating Elite. Ricky Harmon of Evensville, TN won a pair of 4-Cylinder Main Events taking the scheduled race and the Make-Up Feature Race driving the Harmon Racing Special.

Nathan Adams of Crossville, TN continued his domination of the Front-Wheel Drive Division with a pair of wins in two different Adams Racing Specials. Adams won the Make-Up feature in the car he drove on June 25, and then came back to win the second Main Event in his regular blue and grey car.

Jack Gresham of Decatur, TN won the 12-lap Front-Wheel-Drive Make-Up Feature in the Gresham Racing Chevrolet, and John Walker of Kingston, TN won the second 12-lap Front-Wheel-Drive B Feature driving the Walker Racing Special.

Mountain View Raceway will take off next Saturday night, July 9, and will return with a Regular Weekly Points Race on Saturday night, July 16. The Late Model, Sportsman, 4-Cylinder, Thunder, Front-Wheel-Drive, and Developmental Sportsman Divisions will be in action on the ¼-mile high-banked clay oval.

On Saturday night, July 16 the Pit Gate opens at 3 p.m. and the Grandstand and Tier Parking Gates open at 4 p.m. The Mandatory Pre-Race Registration and Technical Inspection will be from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The Drivers Meeting is set for 6:15 p.m. and Hot Laps are scheduled for 6:45 p.m.

Pit Passes are $25 for Adults, $15 for Children 6-11, and Children 5 and under are admitted Free. The General Admission and Tier Parking ticket prices are $10 for race fans 12 and older, Children 6-11 are $5. and Children 5 and under are admitted Free. All Children must be accompanied by an Adult.
