Tanner English Set to Tackle Whynot on Heels of Rookie of the Year Celebration!

(NORRIS CITY, ILLINOIS) Riggs Motorsports driver Tanner English was officially honored as the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Rookie of the Year in pre-race festivities leading up to the 40th Annual 'Dirt Track World Championship' on Saturday, October 17 at Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio! Tanner, who wound up finishing ninth overall in the final LOLMDS point standings, racked up eighteen Top Ten performances against the stellar series regulars while finishing a best third on two different occasions in the $12,000 to win 'Bob Miller Memorial River Days Rumble 50' at Portsmouth back on September 5 and in the $15,000 to win 'Jackson 100' at Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, Indiana on September 26.

In the DTWC this past weekend at PRP, Tanner wound up finishing sixth in his loaded heat race and fifth in his B-Main. The Benton, Kentucky hotshoe was then forced to utilize a LOLMDS emergency provisional, started twenty-seventh on the grid in the 100-lapper, and was officially awarded a sixteenth place showing in the crown jewel extravaganza after drawing a lap 94 yellow flag in the $100,000 to win contest.

Teammate Jason Riggs was also in action over the weekend in the Buckeye State, but was unfortunately unable to transfer into the DTWC after running eighth in his heat race and sixth in his B-Main. Jason did compete in the 'Jim Dunn Memorial' for non-qualifiers, which boasted a $3,000 paycheck, and crossed the finish line in the eighth position. Both drivers will jump right back into competition this weekend across the states of Tennessee and Mississippi. Jason will unload his Riggs Motorsports #81 machine at Clarksville Speedway in Clarksville, Tennessee on Saturday evening, October 24 for a regular weekly show, which will pay out $1,200 to the winner. Tanner will climb behind the wheel of his family-owned #96 racecar on October 23-24 at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, Mississippi. Qualifying and heat races for the 26th edition of the Coors Light ‘Fall Classic’ will get underway later tonight, while the 100-lap headliner will be held on Saturday night with $15,000 going to the victor.
