What kind of valve spring pressure should I run on the seat and max lift. It's a 2.3 ford solid lift head with .525 lift. I've heard numbers all over the board from 90 on the seat to 150 on the seat. Thank you.

Ask cam manufacturer. But I'm going to guess and say 110 to 120 at seat 240 to 260 open.
you will get lots of different answers here,id suggest asking cam manufacture as recommended...personally id go a little more around 125-135 and 255-265
The guy I bought my cam from told me 90 or 95 pounds on seat. Any more and it costs power. I guess i'll try that. Thanks for the responses.
90-95 isn't near enough! 130-135 is a lot better numbers
JD Are you saying the valves will float at 95 pounds?
JD is spot on here. I'd be taking that 90 95 pound with a grain of salt. More spring doesn't cost power on these cars. Quite the contrary actually. I'd be more interested in controlling the valve motion.
As suggested, talk to the cam manufacture. And also tell the manufacturer the rpm range you intend to run the engine. It makes a difference when it comes to spring pressures. -Dave-
I talked to the guy that set up my head. He said he set it up with 115 pounds seat pressure. How will I know if Its not enough? Will I here the valves float or will it just not run high RPM? Thanks for the responses.
First off, are you talking Hydraulic, Solid or Roller.
Hydraulic you should have between 95 - 100 lbs on the seat with no more than 250Lbs on the nose at max lift.
Solid, run 105 - 110 lbs on the seat and a max of 275 lbs at max lift.
Any more and you will have a short cam life.
Roller, run 115 - 130 lbs on the seat and a max of 300 lbs at max lift.
Valve spring pressure is not the only cause of valve float. Too tight of guides, and rocker to valve stem angle are also a factor.
Another factor is the cam asymetrical?
It is a solid cam. it seams to run really good. what do you mean is the cam asymetrical? It is 515 lift intake and 520 lift exhaust.
