King Captures Mountain View Raceway Topless Outlaw Late Model Race

SPRING CITY, TN – Chase King of Seymour, TN picked up the $3,000 top prize with a win in the 40-lap Topless Outlaw Dirt Late Model Series main event on Saturday night at Mountain View Raceway. King drove the Stinger Race Cars “House Car” to victory, a chassis he builds himself and a brand that was started by well-known East Tennessee racer the late J.T. Kerr in the 1980s.

King got by early race leader Addison Cardwell of Knoxville, TN in heavy lapped traffic early in the race, and then held off a late-race charge by John Ownbey of Cleveland, TN to take the win on the ¼-mile high-banked clay oval. Ownbey was the show, as he started 15th and finished second in the Orr Brothers Construction Kryptonite.

Cory Hedge(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word) of Loudon, TN drove the Eagle Racing Engines Black Diamond to a third-place finish and Kenny Collins of Colbert, GA was fourth in the Collins Racing Special. The defending Mountain View Raceway Late Model Champion Barry Goodman of Spring City, TN took the fifth spot in the Charlie’s Used Auto Parts CVR.

Jesse Lowe of Crossville, TN finished sixth, Matt Henderson of Loudon, TN was seventh, National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame Inductee Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN took the eighth spot, Jordan Horton of New Tazewell, TN drove to a ninth-place finish, and Jed Emert of Maryville, TN rounded out the top ten.

There were also six Mountain View Raceway weekly Divisions in action on Saturday night, as 122 race cars were on hand for the special event with drivers representing four different states. Those Divisions were Sportsman, Beginner Sportsman, Open-Wheel Modified, B-Hobby, Thunder, and Front-Wheel-Drive.

Emert had double-duty on Saturday night, as he won the 15-lap Sportsman main event in the Emert Racing Special followed by Hayden Cardwell of Knoxville, TN in the Shorty’s Motorsports PPM, and Hayden Ownbey of Cleveland, TN in the Ownbey Racing Special.

Sean Truelove of Cleveland, TN drove the Levi Racing Rocket to his third Beginner Sportsman feature race win followed by David Peak of Evensville, TN in the BS Welding Rayburn and Brady Lear of Brodhead, KY driving the 859 Off Road Lazer. With his third win of the season in the B-Sportsman 15-lap main event, Truelove graduated up to the Sportsman Division.

Wayne James of Cosby, TN drove the James Racing Special to victory in the 15-lap Open-Wheel Modified main event with Adam Ogle of Cosby, TN in the Ogle’s Neighborhood Service and Towing Lightning and Kirk Turner of Crossville, TN in the C&S Logging Dirtworkx finishing second and third respectively.

Johnny Hughes of Graysville, TN continued his domination of the B-Hobby Division by driving the Hughes Racing Monte Carlo to his fourth straight win in the 15-lap main event. Lamar Hughes of Soddy Daisy, TN took the second spot in the Hughes Racing Chevy, and the third spot went to Jim Gilbert of Rossville, GA in the Gilbert Racing Special.

Spencer Walton of Crossville, TN won the 15-lap Thunder main event in the Kennedy Siding Monte Carlo. Cody Satterfield of Knoxville, TN took the second spot in the Satterfield Racing Monte Carlo and Clayton Forsyth of Crossville, TN finished third in the Forsyth Motorsports Chevelle.

Jacob Sharp of Crosville, TN in the Sharp Race Cars Chevrolet topped the Adams Brothers of Crossville, TN in the 15-lap Front-Wheel-Drive main event. Nick Adams was second in the Grave Digger Chevrolet HHR, and Nathan Adams took the third spot in the Adams Racing Special.

Mountain View Raceway will present a Regular Weekly Point Race this Saturday night for the Late Model, Sportsman, Beginner Sportsman, Open-Wheel Modified, B-Hobby, Thunder and Front-Wheel-Drive Divisions. The Kids will also take the spotlight at Intermission with a Bicycle Race for three age groups: 4 to 6, 7 to 10, and 11 to 13.

On Saturday at Mountain View Raceway, the Pit Gate opens at 3 p.m., and the Grandstand/Tier Parking Gates opens at 4 p.m. Pre-Race Technical Inspection and Registration will be from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and the Drivers Meeting is set for 5:45 p.m., with Racing scheduled for 6 p.m.

Pit Passes are $25 for Adults, $15 for Children 6-11, and Children 5 and under are admitted Free. The General Admission and Tier Parking ticket prices are $10 for race fans 12 and older, Children 6-11 are $2. and Children 5 and under are admitted Free. All Children must be accompanied by an Adult.
