Pete Abell Memorial Rained Out at Ponderosa Speedway; Pepsi Family Fun Night Next on Friday July 13

JUNCTION CITY, KENTUCKY- June 22, 2018- Ponderosa Speedway was set to return to action on Friday June 22 with the 21st Annual Pete Abell Memorial event that would feature the Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Late Model Series presented by DirtonDirt.com and the Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series, however, heavy rains passed over the 3/8-mile D-shaped clay oval better known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” and forced the cancellation of the evening’s racing activities.

The weather had been great all day until around 4:30 p.m. and then the skies became very dark and rain, which started lightly around 4:40 p.m., would pick up in intensity and by 5:00 p.m., heavy rains had fell and the track was left overly-saturated and the grounds were left very wet as well. The decision was made to cancel the racing program at this point and within the hour, another band of heavy rain showers would move over the track once again, making the track and grounds even wetter.

The next event at Ponderosa Speedway is scheduled for Friday July 13 and will be Pepsi Family Fun Night/KDRA Summer Championships. The Super Late Models will race for $2,000 to win and Crate Late Models will race for $800 to win. It will be the KDRA Summer Championships as the KDRA Super Stocks will race for $750 to win and the KDRA Four Cylinders will race for $750 to win, along with Mini-Cup/Cyclones racing for $100 to win.
