Shane Clanton Claims Cherokee WoOLMS Cash

Zebulon, Georgia (05/08/17) – On Friday evening Shane Clanton continued his recent hot streak in his Weldbank Energy #25 Super K Express/ Capital Race Cars/ Penske Shocks/ Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model as he once again visited Victory Lane. His latest triumph came in World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series action at Cherokee Speedway, and marked his fifth win of the season. (ZSK Photography image)

“This is a testament to my crew guys, as well as Marshall Green and Clements House of Power and everyone at Capital [Race Cars],” said Clanton. “This is special. We have worked awfully hard to get back to Victory Lane and luckily we held Brandon [Sheppard] off in the closing laps.”

Shane Clanton returned to action on Friday night at Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, South Carolina) as the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series opened a doubleheader weekend. After registering the 3rd-fastest time in a field of 31 entries in qualifying, Clanton stormed to a heat race win, positioning him on the front row for the 50-lap feature. Taking the lead at the drop of the green flag, Shane held off a late-race charge from Brandon Sheppard to pick up his fifth win of the season and a $10,000 payday. Sheppard, Eric Wells, Jonathan Davenport, and Chub Frank completed the Top 5 finishers.

The following night in a field of 21 World of Outlaws entries at Fayetteville Motor Speedway (Fayetteville, North Carolina), Clanton registered a runner-up finish in his heat behind Brandon Sheppard locking him into the 5th-starting spot for the Tar Heel 50 A-Main. Hanging on to a Top 10 finish, Shane dropped four spots in the 50-lapper to place 9th.

Shane will return to WoOLMS action this weekend with a Tennessee doubleheader.
