Walker Romps To Mountain View Raceway Late Model Win

SPRING CITY, TN – Josh Walker of Ringgold, GA drove the Walker Racing Special to victory on Saturday night in the 25-Lap Late Model Feature Race during the 2021 Season Opener at Mountain View Raceway. Walker took the lead at the drop of the green flag and held off the challenges of Josh Collins of Knoxville, TN in heavy lapped traffic to take the victory.

Collins finished second in the Knoxville Diesel Rocket, 1.878 seconds behind Walker at the checkered flag. Brandon Miller of Maryville, TN took the third spot in the Maryville Nutrition CVR. The defending and three-time Late Model Champion Barry Goodman of Spring City, TN was fourth in the Charlie’s Used Auto Parts CVR.

Tyler Nichols of Ringgold, GA rounded out the top five in the Nichols Racing Special. Walker was the Fast Qualifier with a lap around the Mountain View Raceway ¼-mile high-banked clay oval in 12.236 Seconds. A total of 103 race cars in eight Divisions rolled through the Pit Gate on a sunny, but windy cool afternoon. Drivers represented four different states.

Zach Shannon of Wartburg, TN won the 20-lap Sportsman main event in the Shannon & Sons Trucking Longhorn followed by Bradley Goodman of Spring City, TN in second driving the Goody’s Power Sweeping Rocket and Tyler Dennis of Dayton, TN in the First Farmers Bank Rocket took the third spot.

Ricky Tinch of Deer Lodge, TN took the victory in the 20-lap Open Wheel Modified feature race driving the Tinch Racing Special. Skylar Douglas of Clinton, TN was second in the Douglas Racing Special and Kyle Shadden of Dayton, TN finished in the third spot driving the Settle’s Dirtworx Special.

Daniel Moody of Hiskel, TN driving the Moody Racing Special won a back and forth duel with Jeremy Davis of Madisonville, TN in the Davis Racing Special in the 15-Lap 4-Cylinder Main Event. Austin Lankford of Decatur, TN driving the Lankford Racing Special finished third behind Moody and Davis.

Another lead-swapping race was conducted in the 15-lap Thunder Feature Race with Adrian Smith of Albany, KY making a last lap pass for the win driving the Gibson Motors Oldsmobile. Chris Williams of Soddy Daisy, TN took the second spot in the Anneke Wilkey Monte Carlo and Cody Satterfield of Knoxville, TN was third in the Satterfield Racing Monte Carlo.

Jacob Sharp of Crossville, TN won the 15-lap Front-Wheel-Drive Main Event driving the Sharp Race Cars Chevrolet. Austin Maples of Morristown, TN was second in the Maples Racing Special and Bo Millsaps of Decatur, TN took the third spot in the Millsaps Racing Honda.

Josh Phillips of Rossville, GA won the 12-lap FWD B-Main in the Phillips Racing Special followed by William Beddingfield of Spring City, TN in the Beddingfield Racing Honda and Robert Creasman of Dayton, TN driving the Creasman Racing Honda.

Brad Amerson of Millen, GA drove the Amerson Racing Special to the win in the 20-lap Sharp’s Mini Late Model Feature Race with Mitchell McNure of Statesboro, GA finishing second in the McNure Racing Special and Marty Allison of Paris, TN taking the third spot driving the Allison Racing Special.

The 10-lap Junior Front-Wheel-Drive Main Event for kids 15 years of age and younger was won by Steven Clowers of Englewood, TN in the Clowers Racing Special. Frankie Sharp of Crossville, TN took the second spot in the Sharp Race Cars Chevrolet and Josiah Singleton of Oliver Springs, TN was third in the Singleton Racing Special.

The 2022 Point Season begins next Saturday night, April 2 at Mountain View Raceway. The Late Model, Sportsman, Open-Wheel Modified, B-Hobby, Thunder, Front-Wheel-Drive, Junior Front-Wheel-Drive, and B-Sportsman Divisions will be in action on the ¼-mile high-banked clay oval.

The Pit Gate opens at 3 p.m. and the Grandstand and Tier Parking Gates open at 4 p.m. Pre-Race Registration and Technical Inspection will be from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The Drivers Meeting is set for 6:15 p.m. and Hot Laps are scheduled for 6:45 p.m.

Pit Passes are $25 for Adults, $15 for Children 6-11, and Children 5 and under are admitted Free. The General Admission and Tier Parking ticket prices are $10 for race fans 12 and older, Children 6-11 are $5. and Children 5 and under are admitted Free. All Children must be accompanied by an Adult.
