Isn’t that year Scott had chrome car?
Yes that is the year and the video shows it getting destroyed in hot laps.
Probably one of the few things worth watching on CNN the past 15 years, for us! wonder what the back story was on this show? Some sponsor would have to foot the bill these days, if not back then too. At least we got some "National tv Coverage" that so many want, years ago.
How far CNN has fallen.......
The 2006 video states the following: "The biggest sport you have never heard of". It also says 800 tracks across 49 states, 30 million fans and a billion dollar industry. Fast forward to 2020, how does that information translate today? I'm guessing we have lost more tracks than gained over the years. How accurate is 30 million fans? Even average 2,000 fans per track at 800, that is 1,600,000 fans. (3,000 average is 2.4 mil fans). Of the 800 tracks, not many are going to hold the 20,000+ like Knoxville and Eldora.
A "fan" doesn't have to go to a track every week. I know super fans who don't go in person anymore, for many reasons. I wish we could get a better count tho.
