Bump Steer
Need some pointers on correcting bump steer on a metric chassis. We can not move the upper control arm mounts. We have never really messed with the bump steer but think its time to start experimenting with it and was just looking on things to do to correct it. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Slotting the holes on the frame for the idler arm and bending the steering arm on the spindle are 2 ways to adjust on a stock car.Have you used the gauge and found what you have yet?

We have not yet used a gauge to check it. We are just getting ideas first before we start getting serious with it. I would say next week we will get serious with it.

With bump steer it seems like you are working with 7 or8 different angles, lengths and curves.Do an online search,somebody has a diagram that they drew the instant center/virtual swingarm of the a arms and the tierod had to fall in a certain orientation with that.

setting bump isn't that bad ,we have done it a lot. the only angles your working with are the angle of the tie rod. depending on which center link ,idler and pitman arm, that determines the height of the inner tie rod. also the lower ball joint height comes into play as it can determine the height of the spindle. then its all about on how you use the gauge and what points of travel through the suspension range you are setting it at. many have different settings they shoot for
