Billy Riels Racing Still In CRUSA WRS Late Model Title Fight Thru July

PERKINSTON, MS – Billy Riels Racing Teammates Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS and K.I. Davis of Poplarville, MS remain in the Crate Racin’ USA Weekly Racing Series Late Model National title fight through the month of July. Lee led the CRUSA WRS Late Model National standings after the first 16 Weeks of the 27-week season.

Davis picked up his second win of the 2023 CRUSA WRS Late Model season on July 21 at Baton Rouge Raceway to net on a 41 and earn nine points to his best 14-week total. After Week 17, Davis is third in the National WRS Late Model standings with 667 points. Along with the two wins, Davis has 12 top five finishes and 14 top ten finishes in 16 races.

Lee went into Week 17 competition with a one-point lead over Chase Cooper of Perkinston, MS. Lee was trying to net on a 41 in his 14-week total, and Cooper was trying to net on a 40 point win. Cooper finished second to Davis at Baton Rouge Raceway on July 21 to net nine points and Lee finished third to net eight points. That gives Cooper a one-point lead over Lee.

Through Week 17 CRUSA WRS Late Model action, Lee has 682 points with four wins, 13 top five finishes and 14 top ten finishes in 16 races. Lee and Cooper will both be trying to net on 45s in Week 18 competition. There are ten weeks left in the 2023 CRUSA WRS Late Model season, and it’s shaping up that the Championship run is going to run through South Mississippi.

The Billy Riels Racing Team is likely to be at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS on Friday night, with several options open to the team for Saturday night, if additional points are needed for their 14 week total.
