Remember when crew chiefs had one way radios to the driver?
Remember when you were a Hero for running into a burning building to save someone's life.........Then in 2020 you became a Hero for bagging groceries at the store?
Remember when " The Flyin Farmer " had a pair of yellow tow lights mounted to the roll bar that they used when they flat towed the late model to the race track ? He had them rigged to a switch and then he would turn them on to flash when the yellow flag came out to help warn the drivers behind him.
I remember when I bought a new hauler for $1.00/ft from the rope and chain dept. at True Value...
Remember the Chinn Party at the N/S, on Friday night, 4/5 years ago?
I remember guys towing across the country with a pick up truck and a open trailer. Rows and rows of tires just baking in the hot sun. A Gaerte motor stuffed in the unlocked front compartment. If someone in a late model, remember they weren't called supers back then, had 2 cars he was living the life.
Remember when Fairbury had a six cylinder division and the cars looked strikingly similar to the generic late models of that era? Remember when many of the guys who participated in that division ran tricked up 292 GM truck engines? Remember The Bohm Squad, Paul Westermeyer, Gary Eden, Ronnie Starks and all the rest who made that division so much fun to watch!
Remember when racers towed their racecars with only a towbar?
Took the axles out and rock and rolled.
My dad and uncle left Fla on Thursday nights and towed to Myrtle Beach every week and caught any other good paying races on their way back!

Remember the Chinn Party at the N/S, on Friday night, 4/5 years ago?
I think it was more like maybe 7 years ago but yes, I remember it!!
Brings back the memories ok Chub Frank when he started to run with the STARS series. He had a 400,000 mile 70's 454 Chevy Suburban, open trailer, only 5 spare wheels, mostly used tires, no spare engine in the trailer, and the only one that had painted on sponsors and numbers instead of the custom made decals that everyone else was sporting at the time. Despite all of that he still managed some wins and 3rd in the points ! His nickname back then was only fitting: The Shoestring Traveler because he operated on a shoestring budget.
Remember the first real race are hauler you seen? Mind was Gold Rush 49,Bud Lundsford,an the first modern hauler was James Cline
Do you remember the Grand National Tour, which is Nascar today. Saw them run in Birmingham on dirt in 1952, drivers like Baker's, Petty's and Fireball Roberts, only 3 I remember.
