Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Week 9 Preview
CARTERSVILLE, GA The Memorial Day Holiday Weekend is going to be a busy one for the Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series, as there will be 24 races in eight different states over four days. Week 9 competition races will take place on Friday with six events, Saturday with 11 events, and Sunday with six events, while Week 10 racing will open with one Monday night event.
Week 9 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series competition in four different Divisions win ill feature 12 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division races, 18 Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division races, eight Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division races, and two Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division races.
Boyds Speedway in Ringgold, GA will open Week 9 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing competition with the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stocks. Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS will host the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division, the Street Stocks, and the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division on Friday night.
Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS will present the Late Models and Street Stocks on Friday night, and Northwest Florida Speedway in Baker, FL has the Street Stocks in action on Friday night. The Late Models will also be in action on Friday night at Oglethorpe Speedway Park in Savannah, GA and at Salina Speedway in Salina, KS.
Cochran Motor Speedway in Cochran, GA will have double features for the Late Models on Saturday night that includes a Week 7 Make-Up Race. Chatham Speedway in Chatham, LA will host the Street Stocks on Saturday night, and ECM Speedway in Arkadelphia, AL will present the Late Models, Street Stocks, and the Late Model Sportsman on Saturday night.
Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS will present the Street Stocks and the Late Model Sportsman on Saturday night, and Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, NE will host the Late Models on Saturday night. Needmore Speedway in Norman Park, GA has the Street Stocks in action this Saturday night.
North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL hosts all four Divisions on Saturday night with the Late Models, Street Stocks, Late Model Sportsman, and the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division. Southern Raceway in Milton, FL will present the first of two shows during the weekend for the Street Stocks on Saturday night.
Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL has all four Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Division in action on Saturday night with the Late Models, Street Stocks, Late Model Sportsmen, and the Modified Sportsmen. Thunderhill Speedway in Mayetta, KS will co-sanction the Late Models with NCRA on Saturday night.
The Salute To The Armed Forces Nationals opens on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS with the $2,500-to-win Salute To The Navy 50 for the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Tour. Whynot Motorsports Park will also have Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series action for the Street Stocks, and Late Model Sportsman on Saturday night.
The second race of the Salute To The Armed Forces Nationals will be at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS with the $2,000-to-win Salute the Air Force 40 for the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Tour. Magnolia Motor Speedway will also host Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series action on Sunday night with the Street Stocks and Late Model Sportsman Division.
Cochran Motor Speedway will host its second event of the Holiday Weekend with the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division in action on Sunday night, and Duck River Raceway Park in Lewisburg, TN will present the Late Models and the Street Stocks on Sunday night. Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS will have the Late Models and the Street Stocks on Sunday night.
Moulton Speedway in Danville, AL will have Sunday night Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Week 9 action with the Late Models and the Late Model Sportsman, and Southern Raceway presents a Week 3 Make-Up Race for the Street Stocks on Sunday night. Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL will open Week 10 competition for the Street Stocks on Monday night.
Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS remains the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division point leader with 390 points. Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is second with 381 points, Steve Russell of Pontotoc, MS is third with 371 points, Tim Dees of Meridian, MS is fourth with 352 points, and Chase Washington of Houlka, MS is in the fifth spot with 338 points.
Lee Ray of Columbus, MS is the new point leader in the Durrence Layne Street Stock Division with 382 points. Bryan Fortner of Millport, AL and Mike Lane of Pace, FL are tied for the second spot in the standings, just three points behind Ray with 379 points apiece. Ricky Idom of Hattiesburg, MS is fourth with 348 points, and Steve Maughan rounds out the top five with 338 points.
Tody Ratcliff of Meridian, MS continues to lead the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman standings with 362 points. Brandon Crosby is second with 348 points, Bryson Mitchell of Russellville, AL is third with 319 points, Mark Thorne is fourth with 296, while Nick Thrash of Meridian, MS and Aaron Fitzhugh are tied for the fifth spot with 294 points apiece.
Justin Angle of Anniston, AL keeps a thin one-point lead over Andy Davis in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division point standings. Angle has 273 points, and Davis has 272 points. Chris Yarbrough is third with 234 points, while Ron Bailey is fourth with 154 points, and Oakley Gillespie is fifth with 148 points.
