Ponderosa Speedway Announces 45th Season of Racing Schedule for 2017

Junction City, KY (January 2, 2017)- Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Jamie Stumph and co-owner Larry Redenivs are pleased to announce the 2017 racing schedule for the 3/8 mile D-shaped red clay oval better known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring”. The 2017 racing schedule has nineteen events on the docket, with most of those event on Friday, but there will be some Saturday events as well.

Ponderosa Speedway will begin its 2017 season with a pair of open practice sessions. The first practice day will be on Saturday March 25 from Noon to 5:00 p.m., while the second practice day will be on Friday March 31from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. The race season will get underway with a pair of Saturday events on April 1 and April 8, before returning to Friday action on April 14. The featured divisions at Ponderosa Speedway in 2017 will be Pro Late Models, Modifieds, KDRA Super Stocks, Stock Four Cylinders, and Mini-Cup/Cyclones. Super Late Models will be in action in special events only at the track during 2017.

There will be seven special events for Super Late Models at Ponderosa Speedway during the 2017 season. In April, the Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals presented by Sunoco/Tennessee RV will sanction the 5th Annual Spring Showdown on April 14, paying $4,000 to win for Super Late Models. In May, the MARS East Dirtcar Series Super Late Models will sanction the 5th Annual Red Clay Bash, paying $3,000 to win for Super Late Models. In June, the Schaeffer’s Oil Bonus Series will sanction the 25th Annual Kentucky Klassic, with Super Late Models racing for $4,000 to win. The month of August will see a pair of Super Late Model events, with the Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Series sanctioning the 20th Annual Pete Abell Memorial on August 4 for $3,000 to win and the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will sanction the 14th Annual John Bradshaw Memorial, paying $10,000 to win for Super Late Models. The 17th Annual Hugh “Junebug” Rowland Memorial will be unsanctioned and take place on September 15, paying Super Late Models $3,000 to win, while the track’s 27th Annual Fall Classic will take place October 13 and October 14 and pay $15,000 to win for Super Late Models sanctioned by the Schaeffer’s Oil Bonus Series presented by Sunoco/Tennessee RV Super Late Models.

The Pro Late Model division will see several extra-money to win events during the course of 2017. The 2nd Annual Big Daddy Classic will pay $3,088 to win on May 12 and will race for $1,500 to win on Saturday July 29. The Pro Late Models will race for $2,000 to win on September 29 and will conclude the season with a $2,500 to win payday at the Fall Classic on October 13 and October 14. The Pro Late Models will race for $1,000 to win at their regular show events.

The Modified division will have extra-money to win events in 2017, beginning at the Season Opener on Saturday April 1 with a $2,000 to win contest sanctioned by the Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Series Modified Division. The Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series visits on July 14 for the $2,000 to win Summer Shootout event. Modifieds will race for $1,200 to win on September 29 and will conclude the season at the Fall Classic on October 13 and October 14, racing for $2,000 to win. The Modifieds will race for $800 to win at their regular show events.

The KDRA Super Stock division will also have some extra-money to win events, with first one being on April 28 for $1,200 to win, along with $1,200 to win events at the Pete Abell Memorial August 4 and the Hugh “Junebug” Rowland Memorial on September 15. The KDRA Super Stocks will close the season on Friday October 13 and Saturday October 14 with the 3rd Annual Bobby Carrier, Sr. Memorial as part of the Fall Classic, racing for $1,500 to win. The KDRA Super Stocks will race for $750 to win at their regular show events.

Stock Four Cylinders will also be in competition, with a trio of extra-money events for them as well. The class will race for $600 to win at the Season Opener on April 1, along with $800 to win on Saturday July 29. The division will concludes its season at the Fall Classic on October 13 and October 14, racing for a $1,000 top prize. The Stock Four Cylinders will race for $400 to win at their regular show events.

The Mini-Cup/Cyclone division will return for action in 2017, with one big money event and it will be at the Fall Classic on October 13 and October 14, with the winner taking home $500 for their efforts. The Mini-Cup/Cyclones will race for $100 at their regular show events.

Something new on track schedule in 2017 will be the debut of the Tennessee Mod Lite Series at the Mod Lite Madness event on Saturday July 29. These cars and a half-scale version of a Modified and will be in action for $800 to win and always provide an entertaining show.
