Under New Ownership, MARS Racing Series Releases 2018 Working Schedule

SOMERSET, KY (January 31, 2018)—The 2018 schedule for the MARS Racing Series has been released featuring fourteen events in Tennessee, Illinois and Indiana.

New series promoter Chris Tilley has been hard at work since making the announcement on December 26, 2017 that he had purchased the tour. In just over a month he has put together a full schedule for the upcoming season. The tour will follow UMP tire and body rules for 2018 and drivers can also pick up UMP points at all but two events. The tire rule for each event will be released at a later date in a technical bulletin. The two co-sanctioned races with the Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Late Model Series presented by DirtonDirt.com will allow drivers to run Hoosier Racing Tires or American Racer Tires.

The 2018 Series Champion will receive $5,000 while drivers will drop their worst finish at the season’s end. The top-five drivers in the final points will receive points fund monies.

The MARS tour, celebrating its 19th season in 2018, will begin at Clarksville (Tenn.) Speedway on March 2-3 with $3,000-to-win and $5,000-to-win races respectively during the running of the 14th Annual Tuckasee Toilet Bowl Classic. This will mark the 26th and 27th all-time visits by the series to Clarksville Speedway.

The tour will make a first-time visit to Belle-Clair Speedway in Belleville, Ill. on May 4th paying $3,000-to-win followed by another first time visit to Fayette County Speedway in Brownstown, Ill. on May 5th paying $3,000-to-win.

On May 11th the tour will visit Farmer City (Ill.) Raceway for the Farmer City 74 presented by Douglas Dodge on paying $10,000-to-win then May 12th at Fairbury American Legion (Ill). Speedway for the Fourth Annual FALS Frenzy paying $10,000-to-win. Both events will be co-sanctioned with the Sunoco American Late Model Series (ALMS).

On June 1st the tour will visit Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, Ill. for a $3,000-to-win event while on Saturday June 2nd the MARS gang will visit Fayette County Speedway in Brownstown, Ill. for the second time of the season paying $3,000-to-win.

On Saturday July 7th the MARS tour will visit Brownstown (Ind.) Speedway for the first of two season visits paying $5,000-to-win during the Fourth Annual Born Free 40. The tour has visited Brownstown Speedway three previous times.

Bloomington (Ind.) Speedway will host the opening event of the double-header Hall of Fame weekend on Friday August 3rd paying $3,000-to-win. This will mark the first time a sanctioned Super Late Model event has been held at Bloomington Speedway since May 11, 2007 when Wes Steidinger of Fairbury, Ill. took the Northern Allstars payday. On August 4th, the series will roll into Brownstown (Ind.) Speedway for the 14th Annual Hall of Fame Classic paying $10,000-to-win and be co-sanctioned with the Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Late Model Series presented by DirtonDirt.com.

On August 10th the series will return to Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, Ill. for the Seventh Annual Russ Wallace Memorial paying $3,000-to-win. On August 11th, the tour will visit Clarksville (Tenn.) Speedway for the Big Mo 40 paying $3,000-to-win.

On September 14/15 the series will again co-sanction with the Iron-Man tour during the Seventh Annual Deep Fried 75 at Duck River Raceway Park in Wheel, Tenn. paying a season-high $14,500-to-win. This will mark the second-ever series visit to Duck River.
