Freddy Carpenter Triumphs in Sunoco Race Fuels “Butterball” Memorial at Richmond Raceway

Richmond, KY – July 22, 2017 – Richmond Raceway would present the 30th Annual Sunoco Race Fuels Paul “Butterball” Wooldridge Memorial event on Saturday evening, sanctioned by the Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Late Model Series, and Freddy Carpenter of Parkersburg, WV would pick up his first win in the track’s marque event and score the $10,059 to win top prize. Other feature winners included Devin Gilpin of Columbus, IN in Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modifieds, Eddie Stewart of Manchester, KY in AR Bodies KDRA Super Stocks, and Jeremie Bretz of Maysville, KY in Baker Iron and Metal Stock Four Cylinders.

The Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Late Model Series sanctioned “Butterball” Memorial event would see Freddy Carpenter outrun his son and defending race champion Tyler Carpenter on the opening lap of the event and would never be headed in scoring his first-ever win in the event and claim the $10,059 win. Tyler Carpenter would finish in second, with Eddie Carrier, Jr. finishing in the third spot. Devin Gilpin and Jackie Boggs would complete the top five. Ninth place starting Jason Jameson would head up the second five at the finish, followed by Victor Lee, Skylar Marlar, Michael Chilton, and Connor Meade.

The Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series main event would see Devin Gilpin claim the win and the $1,259 payday in his first-ever visit to the track. Jimmy Lennex, Jr. and Blake Brown would finish in the second and third positions respectively, while Dennis Roberson and Shon Flanary would round out the top five. Completing the top ten finishers would be Jeff Watson, Brent Estes, Zach Powers, John Jackson, and Tommy Carlton.

Eddie Stewart would claim the win in the AR Bodies KDRA Super Stock feature event. Stewart would drive to the victory, while Travis Preston, Jeremie Bretz, Bartley Grant, and Robby Perkins would be giving chase to Stewart when the checkered flag waved in the event. Rounding out the top ten finishers would be Logan Preston, Tyler Collis, John Hall, Greg Hensley and Glen Hounshell, Jr.

Jeremie Bretz would round out the evening of racing as he would be the winner of the Baker Iron and Metal Stock Four Cylinder main event over Tyler Hayes, Shane Irvin, Jeremy Porter, and Shane Yates. Completing the top ten finishers were Chandler Belcher, Brandon Creech, Stacey Harrison, Gunner Johnson, and Jamison Gipson.
