Hudson O’Neal Victorious in 20th Annual Pete Abell Memorial at Ponderosa Speedway

Junction City, KY- August 4, 2017 – Ponderosa Speedway would host the Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Late Model Series on Friday evening for the 20th Annual Pete Abell Memorial and Hudson O’Neal of Martinsville, IN would pick up the victory and $3,000 payday . The Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series would also be in competition and Victor Lee of Danville, KY would pick up the $1,000 victory. Other feature event winners included Victor Lee also winning in Pro (Crate) Late Models, Eddie Stewart of Manchester, KY in KDRA Super Stocks, Doodle Farris of Louisville, KY in Stock Four Cylinders, and Dylan Rutherford of Corbin, KY in Mini-Cup/Cyclones.

Hudson O’Neal would start in the sixth position and would take the lead from Tripp Gerrald on lap fifteen and lead the remainder of the way to claim the $3,000 victory in the 20th Annual Pete Abell Memorial for the Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Late Model Series competitors. Michael Chilton would pass Tripp Gerrald on the final lap to finish second, with Gerrald third, while Brandon Kinzer and Stephen Breeding completed the top five. The remainder of the top ten finishers would be 20th starting Jason Jameson, followed by Adam Bowman, Connor Meade, Chris Combs, and Tommy Bailey.

Victor Lee would charge to the lead at the drop of the green flag in the Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series event and lead all twenty-five circuits of the contest and claim the $1,000 victory. Shon Flanary would finish second, while Blake Brown would claim a third place finish. Peyton Harlow and Brent Denny would round out the top five. Completing the top ten would be John Jackson, Tommy Carlton, Chris Kirk, Don Adams, and J.T. Ayers.

Victor Lee would make a double feature win night as he would also pick up the victory in the Pro (Crate) Late Model feature event. Grant Garrison would settle for runner-up honors, with Jeff Watson completing the podium finishers with a third place effort. Gary Yeager and Clayton Turner would complete the top five finishers. Rounding out the top ten finishers would be Jim Couch, Elliott Despain, Zane Powell, Timmy Taylor, and Derek Bottoms.

The KDRA Super Stock feature contest would see Eddie Stewart in victory lane when all was finished, with Tyler Collis finishing second and Clarence Belcher coming home in third, while Bartley Grant and Terry Cheeks completed the top five. The remainder of the top ten finishers would be Darrell Cain, Sarah Patrick, Greg Hensley, Robby Perkins, and Scott Hensley.

Doodle Farris would make his first visit of the season to Ponderosa Speedway a successful one as he would post the victory in the Stock Four Cylinder division main event. Brandon Creech would finish second, with Brian Moore claiming a third place finish. Gunner Johnson and Chris Smith would round out the top five finishers. The second five at the completion of the event would be Andrew Parson, James Ramey, Chris Noe, Brady Lear, and Keith Gipson.

The Mini-Cup/Cyclone feature event would see young Dylan Rutherford pick up another feature victory, with Blake Brown, Jeremy Elliott, and Jason Hinkle giving chase at the drop of the checkered flag.
