6th Annual Christian County Fair Racing Event Coming Wednesday Night Larry's Service Center NAPA Tripleheader Features Three Popular Divisions The 2019 Christian County Agricultural Fair opens up Tuesday July 23 and runs through July 27, but it's Wednesday, July 24 that racing fans have marked on their schedules as three divisions of racing return. The Taylorville, IL fair put racing back on the schedule in 2014, much to the delight of racers and fans in the area. The event is promoted by Track Enterprises of Macon, IL and presented by Larry's Service Center and NAPA of Taylorville. Races at the fair returned in 2014 and were held again the last five years with solid car counts and great racing. The 2014 event, which was the first in decades, was very successful, boasting a strong turnout in cars and fans. The inaugural edition of the event saw Kaleb Wood take the win in a field of 20 Street Stocks. Jeremy Nichols claimed the Sportsman feature, while Jeremy Reed won the Hornet A-Main. The 2015 NAPA Tripleheader presented by Larry's Service Center saw Nichols again winning the Sportsman event, while Terry Reed won the Street Stock race, and Jeremy Reed ended the night in Hornet victory lane for a second time in two years. In 2016, heavy rainfall hit the fairgrounds during the afternoon hours. Despite the rain and subsequent flooding at the facility, officials worked hard to get back on track. The event drew 20 Midwest Big Ten Street Stocks with Lovington, IL driver, Jeremy Nichols, claiming the win. Nichols also bested a field of 13 Sportsman to claim that victory. In Hornet competition, Decatur, IL driver Jeremy Reed took the win. Weather was again an issue in 2017, as the event was barely completed with storms threatening throughout the night. Despite this, the racing again had solid fields of cars with Timmy (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word) besting a 13 car field of Sportsman. Jeremy Nichols took the top prize in the Midwest Big Ten Street Stocks. In Hornet competition, Marty Sullivan claimed the victory as rainfall started. Last season saw another solid field of cars hit the track with Jeremy Nichols claiming the Big Ten Street Stock top prize over Timmy, Chris, and Darrell (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word). Ashkum, IL driver, Brandon Pralle bested a good field of Sportsman, while Eric Vanapeldoorn won the Hornet feature. A BIG week of action is coming up for the Midwest Big Ten Series. Starting things off tomorrow night is the 5th Annual KerbyStrong 100 at Macon Speedway will feature the richest event on the Pro Crate Late Model schedule, the richest in division history as well for the series. The event, originally scheduled for Super Late Models and hat has been a Super event the first 4 editions, has been switched due to the high amount of rainouts and schedule shuffling to accommodate everything that resulted from them, Sunday, July 21 will feature BOTH the Pro Crate Late Models and Stock Cars (Street Stocks) as they race on Central Illinois Motorsports Nostalgia Reunion Night at Lincoln Speedway. This event is a lot of fun as it will take a look back at the legends of Central Illinois Motorsports past cars and stars that paved the way for the drivers of today. Then Wednesday, July 24th the Stock Cars (Street Stocks) will race again at the Christian County Ag Fair for the 6th Annual Larry's Service Center NAPA Tripleheader. Hometown Drivers Looking Forward To Christian County Ag Fair Race 6th Annual Larry’s Service Center/NAPA Tripleheader Set For Wednesday (Taylorville, IL) Three divisions of racing are set for this coming Wednesday, July 24 at Taylorville Speedway, located in front of the main grandstands at the Christian County Fair. The 6th annual NAPA Tripleheader is presented by Larry’s Service Center. For many locals, it’s a much anticipated event as they get to race in their backyard. Headlining the event will be the Sportsman class, a division that is filled with Taylorville, IL locals. Leading the list are the current Sportsman point leader at Macon Speedway, Scott Landers, and last year’s point champion at Macon, Tim Bedinger. Both drivers call Taylorville home and will be among the favorites on Wednesday in the class presented by Christian County Seed & West Sand & Trucking. Tim Bedinger stated, “This race means a lot to our race team because everyone would love to win in front of our hometown crowd and family that can’t always make it to Macon.” Bedinger added, “It’s always very competitive within our team, especially for this race.” Scott Landers added, “It’s great racing in your hometown even if I haven’t had much luck there in the past. The track is very challenging and I hope to turn things around on Wednesday night.” Others from Taylorville, expected to compete with the Sportsman class are Mitch Ringler, Stefan Bedinger, Brad Bedinger, Conor Klay, and Ty Nation. All of the aforementioned drivers have competed in the class at Macon this season and will look to take advantage of their only hometown race of the year. While there aren’t any drivers from Taylorville in the Street Stock class, drivers from all over Central Illinois and beyond are expected to compete with the division on Wednesday night. The event is a Big 10 sanctioned race, paying $500 to win and $75 to start. Terry Reed, out of Cerro Gordo, IL, leads the Big Ten standings, as well as the Macon Speedway division points. The event has drawn strong fields of Street Stocks in the past. When it comes to the Hornet class, only one Taylorville, IL driver has been in action this season, Michael Abbott. Abbott is tenth in the Macon Speedway Hornet standings, running seven out of the eleven nights this year. The Hornets will round out the action this coming Wednesday night.
