Mother Nature Claims Schaeffer’s SNBS Kentucky Klassic at Ponderosa Speedway

Junction City, KY – June 23, 2017 – Ponderosa Speedway was set the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series presented by Sunoco Race Fuels and Tennessee RV on Friday evening for the 25th Annual Kentucky Klassic, but Mother Nature would have other ideas as the remnants of tropical storm Cindy has put down an abundance of rain on Thursday evening and with a forecast for more heavy rains later in the afternoon on Friday, the track has been left with no other option but to cancel the event.

Of note, with the 25th Annual Kentucky Klassic being rained out, the event will now be cancelled and is not set to be made up or added back to the track’s schedule later on in the season.

The next racing program at Ponderosa Speedway will be on Friday June 30 will be a full racing weekly racing series program featuring the Super Late Models racing for $1,200 to win in a 25 lap feature event, while the Pro (Crate) Late Models will compete for $800 to win in a 20 lap feature contest. Also in competition at Ponderosa Speedway on Friday June 30 will be the track’s Open Wheel Modified division racing for $700 to win in a 20 lap main event, with the KDRA Super Stocks racing for $600 to win in a 15 lap feature event. Concluding the racing card of action at Ponderosa Speedway on Friday June 30 will be the track’s Stock Four Cylinders racing for $300 to win in a 12 lap feature contest and the Mini-Cup/Cyclone division racing for $100 to win in a 10 lap feature event. All divisions will utilize the practice/time trial combo format to determine heat race starting positions. Transponder timing/scoring is used at Ponderosa Speedway and the rental fee for a transponder is $10. RACEceivers are also mandatory and are required to be in use each a competitor is on the track. Super Late Model teams will pay their entry fee and secure their transponders from the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series race control trailer.
