I know it is big and fast but how is the racing there?
Haven’t seen a good race there in years and years. I’ll probably go to the Lucas race though cause they did work on the track for months during this covid bs. So last chance Rome!!
It can be decent, or it can be a choo choo train. I think they have put new clay down this spring/summer so hopefully the Lucas Oil series race will be a good one!
On the Sunday shows what is the usual start time for hot laps
7:00ish
With it being Lucas may be a little earlier.
I’ve never understood the uproar about Rome as far as the racing goes. I’ve always thought the actual racing at Dixie was way better. Especially the Lucas Oil shows of late. Sure the uphill back straight away and downhill front stretch are awesome to see the cars fly on with the beautiful mountain scenery in the background. The only memorable super race I’ve seen at Rome was when Bloomer’s engine went up in smoke and pretty much clinched Jimmy Owens’ championship in early 2010s.
Back in the late 70s an early 80s this place was standing room only on Sunday night and I'm talking for a regular show everybody was there from Charlie Hughes to Doug kenimer to Billy Thomas to Snooks Defoor and I could go on an on I know because I used to go and stand up all night.
Doesn't look good for Dixie/Rome shootout this weekend.
