One heck of a career as well.
Post your favorite Steve Barnett moment
Going to miss the "Franklin Flyer" Steve Barnett race at Brownstown. Seen the article on Dirt On Dirt earlier today. 6x Northern All-Stars Late Model Series Champion (NALMS) in the late 1990's and early 2000's. Barnett 59 was voted in the Mayor of Franklin, Indiana a city of about 25,000 this past January. Made the Jackson 100 a record 27 times over a 40+ year career. Good Luck Steve in future endeavors. Also from what I understand he is a older cousin to former NASCAR star and all around racer Tony Stewart.
97 dream.....
Good luck to Steve
Heard he is now the Mayor of Franklin, Indiana

After last years crash this is probably the smart move. Good luck to Steve and congrats on a good racing career
I think it was a Northern All Stars race at Charleston (IL). Doug McCammon was leading and Barnett got into the back of him. McCammon wasn't able to continue and I believe Barnett won. When I asked Steve about it after, he said "He'll get over it. You know why? He's got no choice. What's he gonna do? Show up pi$$ed off at me every week? It'll take him out of his game."
I considered Steve one of my friends as I chased those guys around the Midwest for a couple of years. He seemed to care more about what type of a person you were as opposed to what type of equipment you had or how well you ran. I wish him luck in his new endeavors. One thing is for sure...he'll give it his all!
1997 Dream and the battle he had with Jimmy Mars. It will be weird going to Brownstown and not seeing the 89 making laps, but enjoy retirement Steve, and thank you for your contribution to the sport.
Another veteran walks away... Best of luck in your future endeavors, but you will be missed.
1st Dirt diecast i ever owned. Still have it have a lot of memories
