Frostbuster 50 at 411 Motor for Southern Nat’s Bonus Series Just Weeks Away

SEYMOUR, TN (February 10, 2016)—The opening event for the third-year Southern Nationals Bonus Series will be on Saturday February 27th at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, Tenn. for the Inaugural Frostbuster 50 event paying $7,151-to-win for the Super Late Models.
Track promoter Mitch McCarter upped the ante for the Frostbuster 50 increasing the win money and complete purse in January to its new purse of $7,151-to-win and $500-to-start. The ‘71’ and ‘51’ in the purse are uniquely significant to the numbers in which McCarter’s sons Pierce and Mack compete with. The 50-lap feature boasts a purse in excess of $25,000.
David Payne of Murphy, N.C. is the defending series champion and will lead the charge of regional drivers into the 4-1-1 for the track’s second event of the season. Donald McIntosh of Dawsonville, Ga. (the defending Spring Nationals champion) captured the track’s opening season event on January 1 pocketing $4,000 in the CT Promotions-sanctioned Hangover 40 that drew 222 total race cars for the New Year’s Day race.
Along with the Southern Nationals Bonus Series, the Crate Late Models will compete for $1,500-to-win and run under the same rules as the New Year’s Day race. The Sportsman will race for $700-to-win, the Street Stocks will compete for the $700 top prize while the Mini Stocks will race for $500 to win. The track rules apply for Crates, Sportsman, Streets and Mini Stocks and can be viewed on the track website.
The event will kick off on Friday evening February 26th with an open practice session from 5:00 until 9:00 pm. Pit admission is $15.00 for practice and there is no charge in the general admission seating area.
On Saturday February 27th the pit gates will open at 9:00 am, the grandstand gates will open at 11:00 am and the driver’s meeting will be at Noon. The first group of hot laps will roll out around 12:30 pm. Adult general admission is $20.00 and adult pit passes are $35.00. If a driver runs in more than one class, that driver is required to buy two pit armbands per track rules.
The Southern Nationals Bonus Series entry fee for the Frostbuster event will be $100. The tire rule for the weekend will be as follows: Hoosier 1350/1600 along with the American Racer 48/56. Also, the highest finishing driver using a CT525 engine package will receive a $200 bonus and the highest finishing driver using a Steel Head/SPEC engine package will receive a $200 bonus courtesy of the series.
In addition to the Southern Nationals Bonus Series kicking off the season February 27th, the Old Man’s Garage Spring Nationals Series presented by Schaeffer’s Oil will open the 2016 season on March 11-12 at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tenn. for the Annual Tennessee Tipoff Classic paying $15,000-to-win.
