Donald McIntosh Makes Last Lap Thrilling Pass to Claim Spring Nationals Victory at Senoia Raceway

SENOIA, Ga. – Mar. 25, 2016 – Donald McIntosh of Dawsonville, Ga. passed Brandon Overton on the final lap to claim his third career Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series victory Saturday Night at Senoia Raceway.

McIntosh drove the Blount Motorsports, Blount Excavating, Stowers CAT, Massey Electric Company and Tennessee RV-sponsored Vic Hill Racing Engines-powered Rocket Chassis to the $6,000 payday.

McIntosh and Overton brought the field down to the green flag for the start of the main event with McIntosh getting to the early lead. By lap seven, fourth place starter Dale McDowell would take the third position away from Mike Marlar. As the laps clicked off, Casey Roberts would move from his seventh place position to take the fourth spot away from Marlar on lap 25. Brandon Overton made a power move in turn two to take the lead away from McIntosh on the 32nd lap. By the white flag lap, Overton would lead at the stripe. Then McIntosh pulled a slider on Overton going into turn one as Overton would drive back underneath the Rocket Chassis of McIntosh and the duo would be side-by-side before McIntosh split the slower car of T.J. Reaid. McIntosh made contact but would hold on to the point off the fourth corner to win in thrilling fashion. Brandon Overton settled for second position, Dale McDowell, with another podium finish was third, Casey Roberts finished fourth and Mike Marlar rounded out the top five.

One caution flag slowed the main event. On the 41st lap, T.J. Reaid and Clint Smith would tangle in turn one to bring out the lone yellow flag of the 50-lapper.

The Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals by Sunoco and Tennessee RV will return to action on April 14th at Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Ky. paying $4,000-to-win and Saturday April 15th at Florence Speedway in Union, Ky. paying $5,000-to-win.
