Jimmy Mars Secures Third Win of Season and Handful of Top Fives in Legendary 100!
(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) Jimmy Mars was very busy over the huge 'Legendary 100' weekend at Cedar Lake Speedway from September 17-19, as he racked up one win, five Top Five finishes, and six Top Ten efforts in Late Model and Modified action! Behind the wheel of his #28 MB Customs Late Model, Jimmy started off the three-day weekend at the New Richmond, Wisconsin oval by finishing second on Thursday behind only $1,000 winner James Giossi. Jimmy then set Fast Time in qualifying on Friday prior to picking up the $1,250 top prize for his third feature win of 2020 over Dustin Sorensen, James Giossi, A.J. Diemel, and Marshall Fegers. In Saturday's $3,000 to win grand finale, the Menomonie, Wisconsin star wound up fourth at the checkers behind only victor Jesse Glenz, James Giossi, and Darrell Nelson.
He also wheeled an Open Wheel Modified over the extended weekend in the Badger State. Jimmy posted finishes of fourth in Thursday's $700 to win opener, third in Friday's $800 to win main event, and tenth in the finale on Saturday evening, which carried a $2,000 paycheck. Mars Racing is slated to return to the renowned Cedar Lake Speedway on September 25-26 for the inaugural running of ‘Fall Frenzy.’ Filling the void of the annual ‘Punky Manor Challenge of Champions,’ which was unable to be held this year at Red Cedar (WI) Speedway due to COVID-19 restrictions, Cedar Lake has stepped up to host a new event this weekend. Jimmy is scheduled to enter his Late Model into the ‘Fall Frenzy’ program to vie for the $3,500 winner’s check. Double heat races will take place later tonight, while the unsanctioned headliner will wrap up the weekend on Saturday, September 26.
