Holloway Loses Tire Protest, McKenzie Declared Street Stock Winner

SYLVANIA, GA – Roger McKenzie of Swainsboro, GA has been declared the winner of the Winter Freeze XIII 25-lap Savannah Car Rentals Street Stock Race Presented by Vaden Chevrolet on Friday night at Screven Motor Speedway after the tires of the apparent winner, Cameron Holloway of Sumter, SC, failed to meet the benchmark of post-race lab results.

McKenzie will take the $2,000 top prize with the win in the Extreme Construction Monte Carlo. Winter Freeze XII Race Organizer Kelcar will be adjusting the Friday night Street Stock payout and sending the drivers the difference in their moving up one spot at the finish.

When the top three cars went to the post-race Technical Inspection on Friday night, McKenzie filed a Protest on Holloway’s tires. Officials took tire samples from Holloway’s Carolina Collision Center Monte Carlo and sent them off to the lab for further evaluation. Officials received the lab results today showing the tire samples failed to meet the benchmark provided by the tire manufacturer.
