depends on what their gambling license allows.
Every state has different regulations. Knoxville is only allowed to give (1) prize per year over $10,000 (that is regulated by the state and the...

I know every state is different when it comes to smoking laws (and the state actually defining what they mean).
Iowa passed their no smoking laws many years back, but didn't define them until a...

Technically, they can't say anything if it was a medical issue (HIPPA laws) without consent.
I don't think I've ever seen or heard of a track reporting about an incident on their grounds via...

I was looking at the entry form online. It says combined points from the 2 qualifying nights sets line-ups for Saturday, not average.
I'm sure he'll still be one of the cars to beat on Saturday,...

racer x16,
Have you been to both Knoxville and Eldora?
if so, you'd know the answer already. Eldora is a 1/2 mile if you are driving on the top of the concrete barriers at the top of the...
-
So, if they used combined points from both prelim nights does that mean Bloomquist essentially buried himself deep in the field on Saturday heats by missing tech and time trials?
I don't know how...

I still contend that Lucas made the decision to cut laps on their own. Knoxville's social media and website never acknowledged the first bulletin / press release that was sent out.
IMO, going...

quite a few fans. Every year I hear a loud and vocal group complain because Knoxville doesn't use it and it's not "fair" to the leader that those slow guys don't move out of their way.
You will...

It's different fanbases, but there is also a group of local fans that only go to Late Model and Modified shows and NEVER go see sprint cars (even though they live here). And there are quite a few...

This may ruffle some of your feathers but IMO, NO ONE should be easy to pass. Everyone should be hard to pass and make it difficult for those trying to do so.
A guy that "moves over" to get out...

I think they are doing more and more every year for the Late Models, it's just harder to see because it's a "slow build" that they do year after year, nothing splashy or huge, just constant,...

Living in Knoxville, I'd say at most 1000 local people attend races weekly. Everyone else is from out of town or state (I personally know people that drive from Kansas City, Sioux Falls and Illinois...

Hard to hype up the pre-entries when the teams won't pre-enter either. The deadline has come and gone and still only 30 official entries thus far.
Drivers and teams are their own worst enemies...

I'd say the 360's had a big increase this year (especially for the prelim nights).
Another consideration that I didn't even think of until just now as well. Many of the part-time staff that help...

Like I said, I have no inside knowledge at all.
I do know that compared to the Sprint Nationals, this is not near the undertaking on multiple fronts with #1 being sponsors. Plus the WoO really...

Your math only works if they only come for the feature to watch and don't come for the D,C or B mains though right? (for those getting mad, I am just kidding and trying to stir the pot a little).

I could be wrong, but seems Lucas Oil put this info out there. There is nothing on the Knoxville website, twitter or Facebook page that talks about this change.
Usually Knoxville is very good at...

I could take or leave having a fuel stop during any race, but unfortunately last year probably made this decision easier as only 7 or 8 cars made it to the end on fuel and even those running barely...
-
considering how many cars ran out of fuel during last years race, it's a totally understandable and well thought out decision IMO.
Sucks that it's not a 100 lapper, but just goes to show the size...

maybe I didn't say it and I haven't re-read it yet. But the Top Level of virtually all racing does straight up starts.
I consider pavement late models as stock cars, and the top level of stock...

22 teams have filed official entries as of noon on 8/31 - my guess is the final list has about 70 on it
1 - Brandon Sheppard, Berlin, IL
1P - Earl Pearson Jr., Dunn, NC
7R - Kent Robinson,...

maybe that's why weekly shows for DLM are dying and weekly shows for sprints and big blocks are still going strong?? Don't know, but has to be some correlation.

Agree, entry fees for any local races is dumb, only BIG events should have them IMO.
Entry fees (within reason and that benefits the teams) for big races (World, Dream, Knoxville) doesn't bother...

inverts will and have been debated for a long time.
Dirt Track Racing as a whole (sprints, lates, mods, etc.) are the only forms of motorsport that use inverts (or re-draw), nothing else does. ...

If the track uses transponders to score the race it's pretty simple. If the leader finished the lap, that lap counted, but only for those cars that crossed the line before the yellow.
Everyone else...
