I just cheked in and realized there has not been a post on the crate tech tab for over 2 months
what has happened to our chat boards???
-
if it sounds like it's on a chip at 6000 but there is no chip ---the high speed air bleeds are too small
If you are trying to run it over 6200 you might need valve springs
you can call me...
-
I currently only have one O2 sensor in each collector and the unbalance that I see in that is disturbing
I have an associate in Canada that runs 10 O2's and he is guiding me into this process
He...

I hear you on the stale part
actually thats why I started this thread a while back just to spark up some conversation for those of us that are not facebook junkies
as for me ---I live in the...
-
the spacer rings move the torque number around a bit
really it's nothing game changing (on a crate)
my opinion is the correct height to gather cool air while not too high to decrease downforce or...
-
unfortunately when a crate actually "blows up"--there is usually nothing but a set of valve covers and maybe an intake manifold
when a piston fails (and that is usually what goes first) it goes off...
-
with prices of everything we touch escilating on a daily basis will racing come to a point that we say its time to cancel the season?
it's a sad time in the world right now and it is very hard to...
-
when i started in the crate world i certainly had to change my standards for out of round
crates cannot be bored or use any type of over-size piston or ring
it was (and still is) amazing to me how...
-
the 1.590 I would think signifies venturi size
and 1.590 would be a monster carb for a big cube engine (not crate at all)
measure the base plate bores---I bet they are 1 3/4 minimum maybe bigger
...
-
this recent change by IMCA will have plenty of your competitors lacking performance and flirting with engine failure on race day---you are ahead of the game by researching the topic before changing...
-
Great topic Zero
what we have found in the 400HP world of crates is that it really doesn't add up to a hill of beans either way
we do like rear pumps for keeping the heat from the fluids
chassis...
-
I hate FB but I love conversation so I am gonna change it up a bit here so we can spark some conversation
AERO--in crates
I am an old guy and 30 years ago aero stuff was only for looks but in...
-
Good to see your still involved John---
E85 has been the trend across the country for a couple of years--so RUSH going to it is no surprise
carburetorts are able to be converted (proffessionaly)...
-
zero--
back up a post
colder fuel--colder air always makes more power----cold shrinks everything ---this enables you to get more into the same space creating a bigger explosion in the...
-
absolutely----
I have seen quite a bit of engines angled down in the back as well as to the left
when these cars get up on the bars and pinned over on the RF ----the carburetor is not happy...
-
here are some casual results from testing
but at the end of the day --I promise you cooler fuel makes more power
during the winter months we store our bulk fuel in an unheated garage
IF we run...
-
Dirtslinger,
When you say you gained HP and TQ with the 1” SS --where were you looking in the curve?
I’m sure you did pick-up some HP above 5000
And your peak TQ number climbed above the shorter...
-
an actual fuel cool can is considered illegal in many crate venues ---HOWEVER---let us look at the subject of "cool fuel"
in the gas family of fuels, the cooler the fuel the better the performance...
-
I am definitely not a fan of oil additives
here is a video from one our associates that addresses additives

-
here is my 2 cents on the Mobil 1
when we started this crate stuff back many moons ago---the sticker on the oil pan said to use 15/50 mobil 1
this engine concept was all new to us so we...
-
very sorry to see no new posts in over a month
FB is taking over without a doubt and that is sad
I am guilty of not checking in but we have been absolutely slammed with work and testing
how...

several years ago I was at a 100 lap superlate race in WV that bloomquist was in.
at the half way point as he was lapping most of the field his car erupted in steam
a couple laps later there was a...
-
on 604's we stay away from true 750's except on methanol
we do use a 725 for E-85
now that is our opinion ----many people run 750's on gas successfully ---it's just not the way we approach our...
-
750 carbs on gas do not accelerate as well as a 650
the 750 will make more power past the flagstand but the 650 will get to the flagstand quicker.
We prefer 650 carbs on our 604 packages when using...
-
first of all put the carburetor back the way it was when you purchased it---
it's always a good idea to check passages in a production built unit but you shouldn't need to start changing...
