Metric and S10 have the same spindle.
The common spindle to swap to is an Impala. Do a search on here for "Impala spindle", there is a lot of info.

Should be 80-87 metric and any year S10.
The metrics in 78/79 (if memory serves correctly) take a different bearing setup. Had a '79 Regal and learned this the hard way.

Yes, S10 and metric share control arms and spindles. However, steering linkage is NOT the same as an S10 is narrower than a metric.
