I have a 86 Monte Carlo rolling body and frame. Body is super straight with very little rot. Frame is straight and very solid also. Car is mostly stripped out, and would make a really nice foundation...

From budget and "easy" stand point, I would go 305 from the early '80's with the 1.84 intake valve and put in the flat tops.
From a "buttkicker" stand point I would go with a 327 block, 283 crank,...

Simply put.........so 400 cranks would fit. Can't say that I have seen one of those though.

I have a 4412 that does the same crap. I think they need removable air bleeds to fix it.

In motors that stay under 8000 RPM, 2 to 3 thou. on the rods and mains seem to be a good ballpark.
