The book says to rub them on sandpaper to get needed celarance - is that okay or should I send them to a machine shop.
-
How important is this? Steel rods and steel crank - Compstar. One of the old books I have say .020 for racing. I am getting a tight .010 measurement.
-
Thank you Perfconn.
If I understnd correct then I order the same part #, but instead of std I tell them .001 OR 1x. I see that is how it is listed in the catalouge.
-
Okay - if it is measuring that it is .0016 on the rods, do I need the .001 bearing set or what needs to be dome?
-
Thank you and I will use my micrmeter set.
-
Where are most mounting the cooler? On the deck like a late model?
-
The crankshaft and rods are new. 350 main jornals and large rod diameters.

Did some internet searches and answers seem to widely varied. Helping a friend with a IMCA modified motor build. Compstar crank 3.75, Compstar rods 6.00. Block is an older - but good - Chevy 4...

Can a GM block that has 184 inside the Bowtied logo on both sides be bored to 4.125 safely. This one has steel splayed caps also. I can get a better deal on it than a new SHP if it can be bored...

I thought the Gapless used to be the hot/have to have item ???
-
Anyone still use Total Seal Rings? Top or 2nd gapless?
-
Anyone used one? Places like Day Motorsports has them for less than $1500 - Ready to assemble. That is like the price price of Dart SHP bare and needing machine shop work.
-
Inside diameter of the cam bearings that came with the block are 1.865. That was measured using calipers.
-
Can you possibly tell me what the diameter of the two bearings are?
-
As usual thanks for the advice. Anyting special about ordering one? Will the timing chain sprocket fit right without machine work?
-
All are Dart Iron Eagle blocks - SBC that is - big block cam bearings?
-
I know so much depends on many variables like cam, carb, etc. But in an outlaw mod that will only run a 1/2 track w/ no claim rules. What kind of differences would there be in following combos?

Can valve spring oiler type covers be used on a wet sump motor?
-
How about a Brodix HV1000 ? I have a similar combo, but that is the intake I have.
-
I know it has been asked - but here goes again.
4.125 bore, iron block and aluminum head. Fel-Pro 1004 or 1034 ??
-
Does the Brodix -10 take special pistons?
-
Will sell it for a good price if anyone is interested.
-
Okay. As always thanks for all the trusted information.
