The R5724-8 is a projected tip plug.
If you have a head where the plug is close to the deck or piston, you can go with a NGK DCPR7E or NGK BR7EFS

If he has a conventional mill, all he has to is press the sleeves in, and then mill down the boss' to flush with the sleeves. It's that simple!

I believe what you're seeing is an uncovered main jet for the barrel closest to the driver's side. You can raise the float level some to see if that helps, tilt the carb with an angled spacer, or...

We have one at Esslinger that we call a .400" lift rule cam. It would be my recommendation. Let me know if there's anything else I can help you with.

If you're really set on wanting the roller bearings, Esslinger could supply you with them. I will tell you though that they don't make a lick of difference on horsepower!

Yes, the pistons are different for the two cranks...
If you can measure from the wristpin hole to the flat top surface of the piston, the 2.3 crank should measure roughly .646", while the pistons...

That sounds like you have a couple questions I can answer for you:

What cam grind, and what valvetrain (i.e. valves, retainers, rockers, etc...)?
-
Why don't you post up your corner weights, that might help get better feedback:

RF
LR
RR
And the vehicle it's in...

You'd be doing good to go with the Esslinger 2270 cam. It's 258@ .050" and comes in at .468" lift on a 107LSA. Over the years, that cam has won more races in Mini-Stock than any other cam...

Esslinger makes/ sells them, or you can just shorten the ones you already have...
-
We o-ring the deck on all our hi-po engines, and NEVER have to worry about headgasket failures. We use the standard Felpro 8993PT-1 cheepie headgasket too!
-
What are your rules regarding cylinderhead? What size engine are you running currently? At only 7400rpm, there's no reason to not run as much stroke as you can! Going from a 2700 to a 3147 should...
