I have to ask which is better.....
Track 1 has 3 divisions,
They have 100 cars, 33 in each class.
They have 3 heats per class
They have a B main for each class
And they have a feature for each...

I would only add this, when you tell your weekly racers to go somewhere else while you run your big show once or twice a year, will those guys you rely on to pay your bills be inclined to come back...

So what fun is a race track with lots of fans but no race cars? I would say that is no different than a race track with lots of racers but no fans would it not?
Bottom line is everyone has to...

So a track that runs weekly with support classes, holds a big regional or national series is supposed to say to their loyal weekly racers *don't come to our big race, stay home, we don't want you...

Its been going on a lot longer than that. In 1975 my uncle got out of late models because engine costs had gotten insane. Only a few car owners could afford the high dollar engines at $7,000.
A...

In 2008 before JD went to Bowyer, he was driving the BWRC house car. We were in Cowpens picking up a new car and Barry said JD is the most talented "driver" he ever had in his car, and if he learns...

My favorite G.R. Smith memory.
Was at the first Colossal at the Charlotte Dirt Track.
We were sitting in the backstretch pit bleachers and G.R.'s hauler is parked right next to it.
After hot...

The Ice Bowl is a special event, one that is more focused more on the competitors than the fans.
If they did as you ask, and modified the format to be more fan friendly, the first change they...

OK if that's how you want to call it, the IceBowl is a back gate event.
Are you saying that is a bad thing and ALL races should be front gate only?
-
To those unhappy with the qualifying of so many divisions, I am betting most of you have never actually been to the Ice Bowl.
You are applying "Fan oriented Show" expectations to what is really a...

I think the answer to age limits lies with 2 words, maturity and responsibility.
I have seen lots of grown adults act with extreme immaturity, so the next thought goes to responsibility, can the...

Last I heard Doug was involved with the group running Senoia Speedway in Newnan Ga. May try them.

Had an uncle who quit Late Model racing a while back. He said the cost of engines were way out of hand and the little guy just could not compete.
That was in 1976 and the cost he was complaining...

Rome has 2 things that cause RR tire issues. First there are a lot of rocks in the clay. Some bigger than others, but all seem to have sharp edges to them. And second the track is pretty much wide...

You are likely thinking of the one year that Dixie and Rome swapped. Ran Dixie one Saturday, then Rome the next Saturday. Only lasted one season.

I agree with flagone on this. I don't think there is any issue with the lab, and if the racers say they know they did not alter the tire, then it begs the question what happened?
The big question...

Everyone seems to think Donald was stupid for leaving Blount.
Consider a couple facts and then put yourself in his place and see what you would do.
Donald wants to become a professional race...

Jeff, let me offer a simple scale solution for you. Add to your sanctioning agreement with the track that they provide the scales to be used during the competition, and that the scales be inspected,...

I see one other group not represented here.
What about the Car Owners who don't have a second DLM Industry priority?
Mark Richards, Bob Pierce, and Ray Cook are car owners, but they all also have...

The race payout has very little to do with car counts anymore. What does affect the counts is the entry fee and non-transfer pay.
Years ago you would go to a Hav-A-Tampa or Southern All-Stars...

Does not sound too practical to me.
Consider the details:
Cars to roll out on to the track, align side by side, and take the green 30 seconds
End of lap 1 Race 1 ...

I think you all are missing one point.
There are 3 criteria for making the chase
1. Winner / High points among non winners to fill out 16 car field
2. Must be in top 30 of points overall

I am not referrng to the 119.
The incident I am refering to is the SLM #25 that took a dirt clod to the helmet that busted the helmet and knocked him out while full throttle coming off turn 2.

Not sure I can agree with that assessment. Anytime track conditions are directly responsible for sending a driver to the hospital then "good shape" should not be used to describe the track...
