hi, I'm in the process of building a street stock and I need some input on what transmission I should use. we can run any automatic or manual trans setup, factory or aftermarket. all I have now is a...

haven't ran a cut down crank but I run a goldstar clutch. decells and accells quicker. haven't noticed any stalling in corners.

don't want to seem stupid but what is the difference between vortecs and bowtie vortecs? thanks.

I'm getting into a street stock class. will be using a 383, flattops, early vortec 906 heads with an edelbrock performer rpm intake. not looking to blow everyone away, just want an engine to last...

agree on the speedy sleeve. it's a thin metal sleeve that fits on the crank to provide a smooth surface for the main seal.

use one in my goldstar in my Toyota. works great. don't recommend for the street.

why are the d-port carb intakes illegal? they used a carb from the factory. they aren't a reworked efi intake. other than the casting number they look the same as an oval port intake from above.

I prefer the older oval port head. no proof to back it up but they seem to handle being overheated better than the d-port. of course we never overheat our engines right.

lre, what do you want for the combo and is it just the crank and rods?
olin

you can fabricate one to do it in the car. the factory and aftermarket ones usually require the head be removed.

tubes will work just fine. just make sure you prep the wheels so the tire won't spin. I've ran them on 13, 14, and 15in tires with no problem. I ran sprint car front tires on my 4 cyl mod with the...

someone installed a sec bowl from a double pumper on your 500. just use the one from the 500.

as long as you install the 2 piece seal correctly it will work. i have done it a number of times. large journal cranks.

lre, the wholes in the cam lobes are smaller, about 1/16in. it is a lazer cam. I'm trying it without the restrictor. will see how it goes.

foghorn and car62 have given their opinions why the 13 is better but they run pavement. dirt is different. if unsprung weight was the only factor then everyone would run a 6.75 instead of a 7.5 or...

now you need a racing thermostat to get your temps back up to 195-205 degrees.

no problem foghorn. I go the other way and assume it's dirt. I can see how the 13s could be best for pavement.
olin

sorry foghorn, there are times for both. I have ran both 13 and 15 inch setups. the 13s do have less unsprung weight but it isn't a big deal on a good setup suspension. the biggest advantage of the...

I've ran a hydraulic cam head in a pinto with a mostly stock pan and stock oil returns to 8000 for 6 years without a problem. I think I will remove it. with the hla's blocked the oil will be...

do you guys recommend oil restrictors for solid roller heads on 2.3 fords? if so what size. first solid roller head I've had and the machinist installed a restrictor. do you still have your oil...
